Every time you move a content from one app to the other, compare data side by side or multitask in any other way, you need all the windows arranged accordingly. Magnet makes this process clean and simple.
In one drag to the edge, you size a window into half of your screen. And by dragging windows to the corners, you snap them into quarters. Slide them to the bottom edge of your display to create thirds. Do the same on your ultra-wide monitor and arrange windows into sixths. Taking advantage of such arrangements eliminates app switching and greatly enhances workspace efficiency.
Magnet supports keyboard shortcuts as well, for every command it has to offer. There is that little icon sitting in the Menu Bar where you can find a predefined set or create yours.

Best of both worlds
Windows 10 users who move to a Mac will enjoy the Apple ’snap’ that precisely position one window next to another; but miss Microsoft’s paradigm of dragging a window to the edge of the screen and having it snap to the left, right, top or bottom. With Magnet you’ll get the best of both world - and more. As well using halves of the screen (and quarters) Magnet also divide the screen into three full height, side-by-side full height slots of equal width and have a window occupy one third or two-thirds of the screen. You’ll be able to drag windows to the left, right, top and bottom. When dragging to the left or right Magnet chooses to snap the window to have the window occupy one half of the screen (rather than one-third or two-thirds) but all the configurations are available with shortcut keys or (and I like this bit) there’s a drop-down icon on the top menu bar providing all the options.
In summary, it’s difficult to see how this product might be improved, and it’s the best 99 pence I’ve ever spent.
I’ve tried countless apps like this but none of them nailed it, until now! As a cross platform developer I use Windows and MacOS, this feature in Windows is one that I miss when using MacOS, paricularly when I’m suseptible to so many windows and applications running concurrently. Stumbled across this just a few minutes a go, straight out of the box it works and I’m so pleased to be able to use this feature now in MacOS. It will save me time from here on in.
One suggestion for improvement, because I use dual monitors I cannot snap to the side which joins onto the next monitor. If there were a way to do this (using the mouse) it would be amazing. That said, I’m already familiarising myself with the keyboard shortcuts (which incidnetly is how I use it in Windows), using these allows me to overcome the issue. Great job team!
Becomes instantly intuitive.
I am a huge fan of the MacOS but I do have to admit that organising windows is not as easy as it is in the Microsoft world. When I saw this app, I bought it, straight off, no hesitation, just bought it. Afterall, it was only £0.99. If I am brutally honest with myself, as cheap as it was, I thought to myself “I bet I don’t really make use of it…. It was £0.99 so it’s no great loss”.
Well, I’ve had it for a couple of weeks and then app has just told me that I have used it 100 times and would I like to rate it? Yes, YES I WOULD! I use this all the time, I have dual screens and work with many windows, I am very obviously getting my money’s worth from it.
One reviewer suggested that they hope that Apple are working on their own version and I understand the sentiment but I really hope they don’t bother. Why? Well, the developer of this has created a very useful utility that has been overlooked in the OS. If Apple incorporate it, Magnet won’t be needed and then they don’t get paid for their creativity or effort any longer.
My favourite function is ctrl+alt+Enter - instant maximize of that window. You can drag to snap but I’m a keyboard shortcut kind of person and I just love how simple it is to use without the mouse.
