Doesn't work properly with Overcast
I tried this app as it purports to support Overcast for playing podcasts. After a lot of messing around I did get a podcast to play through the Chromecast, but the user experience is terrible. The only way I could get the podcast to stop playing was through the Google Home app. I'm not sure what the buttons in this app are for as they don't do anything. So, it's a nice idea but I'm afraid it needs a lot of work. So sadly I have to go back to using t he native Podcasts app for playing through Chromecast.
I wrote a review earlier but I think I misunderstood what the app did.
Basically all this does is cast from apps which are already cast enabled or possibly cast from a few apps which aren’t, but when you do, it comes with a raft of problems such as non-functioning controls and needing to enter the Google Home app to stop casts!
I thought it would help you to cast the audio of YouTube to a speaker but it doesn’t.
Maybe don’t bother. I’ve already deleted it. Quite disappointing.
It’s a shame
Update: 19 December 2017
Suddenly crashes immediately. Uninstalled and it seemed stable for a few days but the problem is back.
Not being an Apple fanboy I’m open to other devices and services including Google and Spotify to name a few.
To that end I’ve been using Chromecast Audio a while and added Google Home and mini as soon as they became available.
So now I have voice control with multi-room Audio and it’s great - except for one aspect. Where’s the love for Apple Watch!
Well here it is and I’m glad I found it.
Voice control is great (but doesn’t always work especially if listening to your favourite track really loud) but what’s also great is flicking your wrist to play/pause or for a quick volume adjustment. We’re talking about Chromecast Audio remember.
A simple task that I couldn’t do before
but now do multiple times a day when listening to music, podcasts or radio at home.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
