Ok but not there yet
Huge disappointment to discover that Apple Pay is not supported and, worse yet, after laboriously typing in credit card details once, I had to re-enter the CVV almost immediately just to place the order. Next time I use it, I know I’ll be irritated at having to dig my card out again to type this in. Apple Pay, please!
Those security minded people who use password managers are prevented from doing so because you’ve disabled pasting into the password field on account creation. For all I know it’s disabled elsewhere too. Please fix this!
That being said, my order was fulfilled quickly and smoothly, and it worked great with the standard order collection system in the restaurant.
Very poor user experience for set up and payments
For a large company like McDs they should be ashamed of this very poorly designed app.
When I first tried to set up the app a couple of weeks ago there were loads of errors so I gave up.
This morning I gave it another go. The registration was fairly simple this time until it came to payment details.
I was expecting to be able to utilise Apple Pay as a quick means of payment but no you have to register a card.
The app states it accepts AMEX but would accept the card number (shorter than visa)
I eventually set up with my Visa debit card which took several attempts due to errors. Once set up I to selected my food (this bit was good)
When went to pay, selected my card. The app wanted me to type in my 3 digit number again meaning I had to take my wallet out again. After inputting it then took me to the verified by visa site.
Personally if I was in charge of mobile solutions I would seriously consider employing new app developers who test their apps before deployment.
The whole payment process is rubbish, far quicker to queue at the till and simply tap and pay.
When I went to pay
Cannot cancel order, no ‘Help’ button
Used the app for first time today and utterly disappointed. Here are my gold and bad views:
The good stuff
1. Clean look and feel, reflects correct menus as per serving hours
2. Good performance, instant change of page at each click
The not so good stuff
1. No help button - if you are stuck with something
2. Doesn’t offer delivery options
3. Orders are not confirmed till you get there - and no alert to tell you it’s cancelled (e.g breakfast orders)
4. Cannot cancel an order - it insists you go through with a Carrot bag even though our breakfast got taken off menu
5 cannot change location of order once ordered
We were trapped in a car park on a Sunday morning, the door opened 10:45 which mean we missed the breakfast
Got into McDonalds and were told our orders were not made and were cancelled
Went to app to cancel it but it insisted I must buy the carrot bag which I ordered as an extra
Not a well thought of app I’m afraid, it was not designed to combat the reality of life situation the customers face - usability team needs to revisit this big time.
