Order collection must be made inside the restaurant, Drive Thru collection is not currently supported.

Payment not possible in app

Everything appears to work fine until checking in. The app will simply not let you insert a payment method at the time of ordering. The original app before the latest update worked fine and I successfully used it twice. When I upgraded my phone, the new version of the app was downloaded and I had to put my card details in again. The app simply doesn’t like this. However, you can simply do it the old way using the app. Build your exact order with special prep items, and this is clearly stated on your order with cost, etc. Show it to your server who “knows nothing about how it works”, pay them in the conventional manner, then await your order. Now check the receipt. If it doesn’t match your EXACT order (no ice, or no pickle for example) simply show this to the server when your order is delivered. Point out their mistake, and fresh items will be made for you. Come on McDonald’s. Get the payment method bug fixed. I look forward to being able to using the app again soon.

Update 2: they’ve now fixed the looping issue but this app is useless to add payment you now have to check in in the restaurant first! So I order on my mobile. Arrive check in and then stand about adding my payment details. I might as well just use a kiosk or the main till?

Who’s in charge of this app? Clearly no one who’s even considered the user experience.

Update: this app is now completely useless. You can add items to your ‘bag’ but when trying to add a card it just loops round back to the bag so you can’t actually order. Confirmed on friends phone that it does the same. Come in McDonald’s you should have a big enough budget not to put out poor quality apps like this!



Mobile ordering was the next natural step after McDonalds introduced the kiosks in store and I've just used it and it worked well. It's easy(ish) to select items (although a suggestion to make it easier would be when I select an option where I can only select one, e.g. Fries, apples or fruit bag as part of a meal, it should really return you as soon as you select rather than needing an extra step to go

The biggest problem with this app is the clunky checkout. Why, why, why not integrate Apple Pay and make this a great experience? At the moment it basically just opens a web page hidden within the app for you to type your details in.
In summary the app has great potential and it's only let down by the nasty payment experience.

The mobile ordering service from McDonald’s is quite good, despite this awful app.

The app is very clunky and error prone, on my first time using it, on checking in at the restaurant it gave me a failed message, so I checked in again and went to the counter to collect, where I realised the order had gone through twice (2 identical orders were prepared) and I had paid twice.

Next time I ordered a McFlurry, despite these not being available at the restaurant and they had to refund.

Then they updated the app and said i would need to re-register my card. That’s fine but it did not allow me to do so until I was actually at the restaurant, hardly convenient and somewhat defeats the object.

I also don’t understand why they have me type in card details by hand - why no Apple Pay?

Edited to add - another problem with the app, this time my order failed to arrive at the restaurant altogether. My order (number 6) was missed out altogether. I could see orders 4,5,7,8,9 all the way up to 19 before I finally asked where mine was after waiting about 5 mins. This confused the staff as they had no trace of it and they had to go and check with the manager who had to ask the kitchen to prepare it. Another great experience!
