2013 M-OS50k and M-OS25k maps: Purchase these new low cost maps though the app to give you access to 2013 OS Landranger and Explorer maps for the whole of Great Britain. Then choose to download the areas you need for the places you visit. Depending on your device, its memory capacity and the scale of mapping you choose the total area of mapping available to cache offline will vary. Typically for OS 50k the total amount you’ll be able to cache is over 30 times the size of the Lake District National Park and for OS 25k nearly 10 times the size.
Battery Use Disclaimer: "Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life."

Reuse PC Ordnance Survey Memory Maps
If you have a version V5 OS maps bought for your PC or used on a PDA - I used an HP240 for many years with MM - you can transfer these to your iPad or iPhone using iTunes. Just make sure MM is not running on your iDevice and connect to your PC, open iTunes, select the iDevice, select Apps, click on the MM application and click Add. Locate map files on PC and transfer the .qct and the .mmi files you need - mmi are the index and qct are the actual map. There is no need to purchase a licence. Map scrolling is fast and accurate, I have whole of UK OS50 plus all of Europe.
This is great reuse of your OS maps. The app is a bit clunky but does the job - doesn't seem to load .gpx files though, e.g. Geocache info so not a good as the old PDA Memory Map.
Development Team cannot be bothered to fix bugs
Really annoying bug whereby it's not possible to search on place names with accented characters. Notified Memory-Map about the bug on the 13 Nov 2011. As of 20 February 2013 the bug remains unfixed even though five newer versions of the software have been released. Their development team is lazy and incompetent. The Memory-Map forum is pre-moderated and they do not publish posts when you raise queries about issues they don't want to answer.
Fat chance I know, but it would be nice if there was a map scale and the possibility of turning off the low resolution mapping which is downloaded automatically and wastes space on the device. These features have been in the Windows Mobile version for years. However, as previously stated, the current development team are inept so our Sun will probably end its life before this functionality is ever added.
I originally had this for my iPhone 4 and have been buying tiles on this as a handy platform to carry about and to use 'on the hoof'. I have now got me an iPad as well and would like to plan and view routes on the larger iPad screen for easier viewing. After a while of web searching and attempts With no success i finally sent off an email to MM although I got a reply within 24 hours the outcome of this was reply was most disappointing....
I must basically use my credit to buy the maps for each device separately. So not happy and looking at alternatives that will allow transfer of maps, routes, plans etc between devices. Loved the app and the map detailing but the in app purchases are very annoying to have to buy twice!
