What's New in Version 4.1

Minor improvements to the layout on iOS 7.

By popular request, added support for storing notes per reading. This is done on the Readings screen, by tapping the blue button(s). Readings with notes are shown with a yellow background.

When using touch/hold on the graphs, the app now displays the percentage change from last year to this, as well as the absolute values.

Finally, if you like my app, please continue to support it by leaving a review on iTunes. If you are not keen on the iOS 7 interface, PLEASE see my website for an explanation of iOS versions and the UI, and what you can do about it.

Energy Efficient

Until I started using this app, I can honestly say that I had no idea how my gas and electricity usage varied throughout the year. I now religiously take readings every weekend and, as I've built up over a year's worth, I can see exactly when the spikes and troughs occur. This has allowed (and encouraged) me to think much more about how I use my electrical items and heating and, even more importantly, to save money by changing my habits. I'm really pleased that the developer has just added the ability to make notes against readings, I think this will make the process of identifying the results of changes in usage (e.g. running a NAS 24/7 or getting a more efficient fridge/freezer) even easier.

The app itself is well-designed and easy to use once the meters have been set up. The setup can seem quite confusing but this is entirely down to how utility companies charge for energy usage, and not down to the design of the app. To the designer's credit, full and detailed instructions on how to set the meters up are included in the app and he also responds readily to emails if there is anything you're unsure of.

So, if you're curious about where all those huge utility bills are coming from, you're thinking of getting solar panels and you want to see the effect, or you just want to manage your energy usage a little better, I can highly recommend this app.

The ronseal of energy monitoring apps

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Great for monitoring usage and testing effects of energy saving measures, like turning down thermostat and reducing heating hours. Updates deliver requested features from reviews and resolve bugs found. Features for comparing usage and cost against previous year is great incentive for keeping usage under control. We now use this to track our Solar PV generation too and the water meter. It highlighted just how much water was being wasted due to leaking cisterns in our house, which we've now fixed and slashed usage by 40%. Syncing multiple devices via iCloud works seamlessly.

Great App

Makes tracking and reviewing your fuel costs easy. Highly recommended given how complicated power companies have made their tariffs.

Update: Added a star to make 5 after using this for nearly 2 years now I have complete understanding of my usage and it's so much easier to see if any increased monthly payment increases are warranted when I get the dreaded email from the power company. Makes price comparison between tariffs much easier also. Great support by the developer make this app pretty much perfect especially once you've built up a good set of readings.
