I like the brevity and the style of this news app. It's great for snippets and doesn't cost a penny. With two editions daily there are plenty of games and puzzles for those so inclined, too... so what's stopping you? Give it a try right now!

I am now retired and when at work used to avidly read the Metro paper but although I had the App on my iPhone I didn't bother much with it as the format was too small within the limits of the device.
I have recently inherited my wife's old iPad 2 and so have installed the Metro App on it.
I am really impressed with the layout and the ease of navigation. The content matches the paper edition and is easy to read on the iPad. The games/puzzles are also very well implemented.
Well all in all it is a good read. I had a little difficulty when I downloaded the app the first time. I couldn't get in, it kept asking for me to sign in to iTunes to get notifications. Well in the end I deleted the app and then went through downloading it again. This time it worked well.
The only criticism I have is it's a little confusing to continue to read by tapping the plus signs, while at other times you had to scroll. Apart from that it's free and its informative and interesting.
When I first started using the App I found it a little confusing - when you are used to flicking through pages and seeing what you see before you, it was unusual to discover you could tap on items and find extended coverage of the particular article you're reading. But all in all it is a good read - and completely free of charge. How great is that - especially when you are an OAP and counting your pennies.
