Use the new Microsoft Remote Desktop app to connect to a remote PC or virtual apps and desktops made available by your administrator. The app helps you be productive no matter where you are.

Configure your PC for remote access first by download the Remote Desktop assistant to your PC and let it do the work for you:

• Access remote PCs running Windows Professional or Enterprise and Windows Server
• Access remote resources published by your IT administrator
• Connect remotely through a Remote Desktop Gateway
• Secure connection to your data and applications
• Streamlined management of your connections from the connection center
• High quality video and audio streaming

What’s New

Version 10.2.4

Thanks for all the feedback sent to us through the App Store, in-app feedback and email. We’re working hard to make this app better with each release. In this version we addressed the following issues:

• Added dark mode support for macOS Mojave 10.14.
• An option to import from Microsoft Remote Desktop 8 now appears in the Connection Center if it is empty.
• Addressed folder redirection compatibility with some third party enterprise applications.
• Resolved issues where users were getting a 0x30000069 RD Gateway error due to security protocol fallback issues.
• Fixed progressive rendering issues some users were experiencing with fit to window mode.
• Fixed a bug that prevented file copy and paste from copying the latest version of a file.
• Improved mouse-based scrolling for small scroll deltas.

Please keep the feedback coming. We read it all. If you encounter any errors, you can always contact us via Help > Report an Issue.

Note: If hardware acceleration (specified in app preferences) is not available or enabled, there will be a tradeoff between the graphics rendering performance and the quality of some text in the remote session. As the interpolation quality (specified in app preferences) is increased, some text in the remote session will appear sharper, but graphics rendering performance will decrease. This side-effect will be especially evident in fit to window mode. In the absence of hardware acceleration, if graphics rendering performance is important, the interpolation quality should be set to None, with the result that some text will appear blurry, but rendering performance will be more optimal.

So much worse than v8

Gave this version another shot after the update. Performance seems to have improved a little (still not as fast as v8). I run on an external monitor not on my retina display - and even with the interpolation quality cranked up to high - the graphics are still blurry compared to the pin-sharp version 8. The issue of managing user accounts separately from the Images is still present - while this might work for those who use the same set of credentials on mutliple images - evefry single one of my images has an autogenerated set of credentials which changes every time. Having a hundred accounts called 'administrator' in the connection manager makes this completely unusable

This version is awful.
Performance wise - an order of magnitude slower than v8.
And I work with cloud based VmWare instances that get creted and destriyed frequently - each time they get a new IP address and login credentials. V8 handled this well with the credentials assigned to each entry in the list. This version tries to be clever and have a set of logins - which does not work at all for this scenario - i have a hundred logins in the list all called 'administrator'

Back to version 8 for me

Developer Response ,

Have you tried an interpolation quality of None (you can set this in the app preferences)? That is what the v.8 client uses. The level of blurriness depends to a large degree on the type of content in the remote session and how it reacts to scaling. If you are connecting to Windows 7 and classic theming is in effect, then interpolation will make things look blurry.

Works, but has problems

The options to mirror Mac keys for cut paste etc, do not work, the app does not shut down properly and has to be made to Force Quit each time. Set up is not as straightforward as v8. I copied the settings from v8 and they did not work. So now I can use a v8 shortcut (.rdp) and tell it to open in v10 - cluncky, and not ideal. Seeing this is for Mac users to access Windows ‘stuff’ you’d think MS would try harder. With v8 working just fine and no probelms, begs question why I should change - I thought v10 might be an improvement, but needs some work. I’ll stick with v8 for now and see if the situation improves. I’m happy to move to a new 'permanent’ version when that works. Oh, and what about 4k or native resolution, please. Don’t see it on there. Thanks.

Far worse than version 8

I gave this version another shot as version 8 now has a warning banner about being deprecated.

Some improvements have been made since the last time I used it, but it’s still fundamentally unusable for me. I’ve got several hundred connections saved, and the search function is unusably slow and sometimes just stops working altogether. Scolling through the list is slow and painful, keyboard shortcuts don’t work properly, the ‘report an issue’ feedback feature refused to accept any input, I can’t find any way to open connections in a window rather than fullscreen.

Version 8 works perfectly and does exactly what I need. Version 10 does not, and needs some serious work before it’s on an equivalent level.
