The official electronic mobile version of the 'Minibeasts: An Identification Guide' book by Peter Smithers and John Walters.
A unique guide which will enable you to identify all of the main types of insects and other minibeasts you are likely to find in Britain. Lavishly illustrated with colour drawings and paintings to aid with identification. The app also links to a wealth of photographs and other curated information on the web.
An informative, educational and fun to use guide which is ideal for children and adults. Great when you're out in the town or countryside, even when you're indoors and a mini-beast flies in through the window. Wherever you are you can find out what it is and all the details about it.
A number of bug fixes to support iOS 10.
Ratings and Reviews
This app does no justice to what was a nice little book. Content is poor and the majority of the text and images need to be downloaded over wireless or fast 3G. Very disappointing and uninformative. The simple key has some uses but some illustrations to support the key would have been good given the intended audience. There are many better apps which will reward you better for your money.
Low on detail
At £2.99 I was hoping for a bit more detail with help identifying creatures down to a species level.
If all you need is a very generic ID then this will be fine, although still overpriced for what you're getting.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
