Oh Boy... This Is Brilliant!
I love my iPad, I use it for work one hell of a lot, and most of all I use it in meetings to discuss video clips and concept artwork with clients. This is where the iPad excels, but I still find myself during a meeting endlessly hunting through a variety of apps to find stuff.
I may be wrong, but I think Minimal Folio does exactly what the iPad should have done all along, it lets you organise your presentations 'instantly' and makes the navigation of them a breeze.
OK, I can do most of that in Keynote, but this is so much quicker to put stuff together in, so much quicker to navigate afterwards and with no wasted time opening and close my various projects... and it's only £1.79!
Admittedly there are just two 'wish list' items missing to make this perfect, Dropbox & PDF support, but seeing as the developer (who answered my query via Twitter within 20 seconds!) assures me that they are on there way very, very soon... 5 stars it is!
If you think you might need this kind of app, this will be the best £1.79 you spend this week!
Finally working on iPad 1
Update at 20th June 2012: Just gave it one last try and at last I can import images on my iPad 1. Ironic as I get my iPad 2 tomorrow! It now seems to work as it should and I can recommend it.
Edit: App crashed and now doesn't work at all, currently talking to support.
Edit 2: After update the app now crashes as soon as I attempt to import images. I will now give up.
This largely does everything I want from a portfolio at a great price. It is however rather fiddly to use when you are organising your photos and sometimes photos can stick in places where they are not supposed to be, and sometimes I've had blank spaces appear and I've had to move things around to close the gaps back up. Once the initial organisation is done it's simple to use. I used iTunes to get my images on to it as the DropBox integration sounded a bit 'all or nothing' to me with regards to what it synced.
Clean, simple, effective.
A very simple app without any complications. Dropbox support makes it a breeze to add files, although the Auto Arrange function was a little flakey in my experience, sometimes splitting columns that definitely should be together. Very simple to rearrange once all the images were loaded in, though, and the developer assures me improvements are always in the pipeline.
Do try, at this price!
