Glad if's free
Not entirely sure of the point of this app, with the iPhone already having an inbuilt compass. There are many apps which are out there ViewRanger and MemoryMap which are worlds better than this one.
If you purchase this app the best feature is the weather with Met Office mountain forecasts the rest of I am not entirely sure of the point. The maps are straight off Google maps which have little of no features although the active grid reference is handy and reasonable accurate. The altimeter is pointless and the Sian the weather girl videos didn't tell me anything I didn't know before.
If you are planning on using this app on the hills you'll be seeing a lot of the mountain rescue teams if used as the only aid on the hill please use a map and compass with this app and use the useful features of planning and emergency procedures and a whole lit of common sence.
Great start but could be better
As others have said its not something is be happy to pay for as it stands. Great to have an easy link to the mountain forecasts. This however is pretty much all it's good for.
Most of the rest doesn't seem to work or already exists on the iPhone. Since most mountain areas don't have a great signal the maps are a pointless addition unless they were downloaded to the device.
And again as others have said, you should always have a map and a compass anyway!
Will keep it for now as some of the features are useful.
Mountain info app
Particularly like the grid ref on the map page and that the weather forecasts are on the App. I have the met office app and you can't get the mountain area forecast on that.
A lot of the app is common sense, but I guess it's aimed at people with little knowledge, and at least they can't use this to get into difficulty. The videos are great and I like the altimeter too, which seems pretty good when on the summits.
