With Moves, our goal was to create an app that will keep your phone running fine if you charge it nightly. In tests with Moves and other typical phone use, we’ve reached that goal, but your results may vary, as there are many variables that affect battery consumption. We’re continuously working on minimizing battery consumption even further.
What's New in Version 2.8.1
Stability improvements and bug fixes.
Good but slow recently
I have been using Moves for over a year now and I like it, especially the ability to export to json etc for use in other processes. Recent updates have left it more sluggish than it was previously and not as quick to update recent activity. I would like to be able to split activities such as dividing generically classified Transport into separate components e.g underground then car. It would be good to be able to insert places of interest when the app doesn't pick up that you stopped somewhere or moved between two very close together venues. Finally to delete/hide stops of no interest, such as waiting at traffic lights for three minutes.
It could be a great app, since it's tracking (even if not absolutely accurate) is unlike in any other app. Seems like a decent compromise between battery usage and accuracy. However, its frequently fluctuating performance (sometimes losing quite a large chunk of data - one minute you see the full track, and the next it's disappeared and shown as 'Moves off') is an issue, as is the export option on the web backend. There is no possibility to contact the developers whatsoever (no contact option online, and no reaction to any of their social media accounts). So sad to see yet another great idea bought up and destroyed by one of the online giants :-(
I've been using this since Apple hosed the Health app in iOS 9 (or was it 10), and it's pretty good - generally does what it's supposed to for me on my iPhone SE.
However, there's a bug that's been annoying me since I got it (several updates ago) on the week view - swipe down in a day to show the week, and all the green (walking) and blue (cycling) blobs are there ok, but swipe right to show the past and everything's zero, swipe left to show the week you just looked at and they're all zero now too.
Extra star if you can fix that one, but otherwise thanks and hope you're enjoying my personal data! :)
