Today looks very much like a tickling day!
Join Mr. Tickle in his first interactive storybook app as he uses his extraordinarily long arms to tickle anyone he can get his hands on.
The classic tale of Mr. Tickle is narrated by David Walliams, whose comedic talent brilliantly brings to life the fun and giggles that result from all that tickling. The animation remains faithful to the original illustrations developed by Roger Hargreaves, and includes created interactive elements to explore. The text remains unedited to ensure that the charm of the original book is retained for fans both old and new.
• Original story and illustrations by Roger Hargreaves.
• Narration by David Walliams.
• Tap the words to hear the story read aloud.
• Over 60 sounds and 70 interactive animations.
• Mix and match with 7 Mr. Men and Little Miss Funny Face activities.
• Colour your favourite Mr. Men and Little Miss with 15 colouring activities.
• The wonderfully fun ‘Whack-a-Worm’ game!
The Mr. Tickle Storybook App contains no In-App purchases.
The story is timeless but the app is buggy
The story itself is of course wonderful, and David Walliams does a great job telling it. However the app itself is very poorly made. Extremely primitive options and animations, virtually no thought given to kids actually using it - for example the page navigation buttons are TINY and right next to the home button! You have to touch the text to make it read, touch a couple of times and the sounds play over the top of each other, doubling-up or more! Often the pages will become completely unresponsive and not play the audio at all.
In short, save your money until they've fixed the numerous bugs in this app. But even then it will still be a very sub-par story app.
How refreshing to see a classic remade into an app and stay so true to the original. I remember the story from my own childhood and David Walliams is a brilliant choice for the narration. My 4 year old loves it (and I’m enjoying the whack a worm game a little too much!).
Great if you live in the 60s
