Implore developers to use a different ad system
This app used to be great. Unfortunately some pen pusher got so over excited about ad revenues as an income model that they went ahead and purchased the most inappropriate ad system. So much so that you can’t really use this (well what was) as a quick convenience tool.
I searched for something - the world had to just stop while the longest advert had to play to completion - before you find out if you put the item in your hand into the basket it back in the shelf. If you thought it is a one time thing, you’d be wrong. You do the next item on the list and again the world seems to come to a stop until an excruciatingly long video has to play before finding out if this item could be bought cheaper elsewhere and you can carry on with your rush round the supermarket or creating a quick shopping list. Seriously, I didn’t even get to the end of that second search before shutting the app as life’s to short.
Many users understand some apps need ads. It’s the type you’ve put in that making your customers leave in droves.
Best option would be to get rid of ads entirely, - who likes ads in apps nobody. You can have a free version - maybe so many searches. And have a paid for version. I for one would be happy to pay for this app. Or pay to stop the ads.
Ads implemented incorrectly but what about the connection issues!
For the past year I have been waiting for the connections issues to be sorted out. Not sure how it’s been coded but 50% of the time I get the message about not being connected to the internet. Well I can definitely swap to Safari and get to the mySupermarket website using https. So you tell me what’s happening because I don’t have a clue. When it was working this was a good wee app.
So, now Safari stutters and keeps partially reloading the pages -it’s definitely in some sort of loop. So I tried Chrome and at least Chrome worked and I could use the website (meanwhile the app still thinks there’s no connection to the internet!)
And I’m not even going to mention the new ad implementation again - except to say whoever decided this was the way to add ads should be fired. Many other apps do ads in a less intrusive way. You can still get ad revenue without wrecking the app entirely. How much revenue are you going to get when I get my app teams to create a better price comparison app and everyone bins this one !!!!! Take the bags off your heads and realise there are better ways of doing this. Sermon over.
You have to wonder at which business meeting did some genius decide to trash a well rated, market leading app by flooding it with incessant intrusive ads and completely ruining their product and brand name. Nothing says a quality app like 40 second video ads that cannot be skipped for god awful products. Nothing says ‘we care about our customers’ like having pop up ads every time you click on a page. If this is genuinely mySupermarket’s best idea for turning a profit then they deserve to go out of business. What on earth were they thinking essentially turning their app into spam ware? You’d think the immensely negative feedback on here might be a clue as to how much everyone despises the changes, but apparently not, apparently they think that proceeding with ‘project implosion’ is the way forward. I almost feel sorry for the investors, it would have saved time simply having a giant cash bonfire in mysupermarkets office whilst its employees danced around it - at least that would have saved us from having to watch the same abomination of an advert over and over ad infinitum.
