Myzone is the next big step in sports wearables, motivating you to get the most from exercise, whatever your fitness level, however you train. It lets you know how hard you’re trying when you work out and features a heart rate accuracy of over 99%. Myzone also offers amongst the most precise calorie-crunch data on the market, plus the ability to effectively calculate cardio and weight training.
Myzone uniquely rewards effort, while providing a game based platform and social experience that is both inclusive and engaging to all, regardless of athletic ability. As the name suggests, its technology creates bespoke and responsive targets for each individual, to provide personal feedback – hence ‘Myzone’.
Creating a personal handicap based on your maximum heart rate, it is possible to beat an elite athlete by simply working harder. For example, you might finish behind an elite athlete in an endurance run, but exert greater effort and Myzone makes you the winner – so everyone competes on a level playing field.
Myzone encourages competition with other users through cloud-based challenges via a web-based account and bespoke app. The community aspect of Myzone makes it a Facebook for physical activity. Users can analyze, ‘like’, and comment on each other’s workouts, while the app logs your activity history and even updates you over email. In fact, this is the only system to recognize and notify you when you have attained the World Health Organization’s recommended guidelines for physical activity.
The Myzone App allows you to sync your Myzone MZ-3 Physical Activity Belt with your phone meaning you can now see live data and upload stored workouts on your phone. If you prefer to use your MZ-3 with third party fitness apps then your data will still be stored (up to 16 hours) until you sync with your Myzone® app.
This app integrates with many other platforms, including Apple Health. If you grant permission, we will save your activity calories, height, weight, BMI, BMR and body fat data to Apple Health.
**** Please note that the app will only work if you have a Myzone® Account (you can create an account in the app for free if you don’t have one already) and your tile will only be shown and data uploaded if you have the new Myzone® MZ-3 Physical Activity Belt.”
- Accuniq QR scanner now works with updated QR codes.
- Fixed calorie mismatch for workouts synced with Apple Health.
- The circular indicator in the calendar now no longer gets cut off on some devices.
Ratings and Reviews
Love the app but a couple of issues remain
I love this app as it has really helped me to push myself during every workout to make the most out of my training. I really like being able to participate in challenges with other people as well as encourage them through liking their workouts. I also find the MyZone match sessions brilliant for when I am at the gym but do not have the inspiration (particularly early in the morning) to think of a workout to do. It stops me from getting bored on a machine as I am looking to reach the next stage of the match rather than the time remaining!
The issues that I would love MyZone to fix are:
1. 80% - 89% writing being white on a yellow background. Quite difficult to read when you are jumping around doing exercise and your eyes aren’t focussed!
2. The belt is great but the black part has started to occasionally cut into me leaving scars which I have to pad (for protection) before each workout until they heal again. I know a few others who have had the same problem and they have a similar build to me, slim waist and therefore have to have the belt on the tightest setting it can go, which could be a contributing factor as the belt perhaps isn’t fitting as well as it could on us. I would welcome some feedback on this if possible!
Really enjoying the app. The targets and the challenges motivate me to do the 'fizz' which I normally struggle to raise any enthusiasm for. The points you get are awarded for your effort based on your heart rate, so this really levels the playing field both from your current fitness level and gender. I have had no problems with the belt or linking it to my phone. The app is pretty simple to use and in workout mode displays the basic info you need HR, Calories burned, your MEPS (how much effort you have expended on the workout so far), the HR monitor battery life. For me the best bit is the coloured zones that are displayed, to show you what % of your max heart rate you are working at, so that you can control your exercise and importantly ensure you do not over stretch yourself unhealthy. If there was a minor downside, it would be that for older bods with less than perfect eyesight, the white letters on the Yellow background (80%+ workrate zone) really don't standout too well and really could do with being black or a better contrasting colour. All in all an excellent bit of kit, which if you want a motivational way of staying healthy fits the bill.
Upload is just unintuitive
Love the idea of this. Love the live tiles in the blaze class etc but the app. Ugh. It seems a law unto itself. I get blank stats charts. It gives me 2 mins of work out. Or records the data then has no stats bars even though on another screen you can see the times in the various “zones”. Seems chronically buggy and illogical generally. The fact there appear to be no real instructions makes me feel it’s uncontrollable. Does the band need to be active or worn to upload? Does the app need to be open while wearing? Will it upload when it comes into contact with phone again? When you press the “upload” which I’m not sure I have to? it says it’s done and nothing appears. The stats bars can take an hour to display for some reason? It’s just bonkers. Utterly frustrating. It should be simple. Wear the band it saves the data and when you open the app and the band is active/on you press “sync” it syncs and presents the data it has stored in it as a chart. You then should have the option to delete data from band. You should also be able to delete activities. Trim activities etc. Come on can’t be hard to produce an app that works. You charge enough for the band!
