Help to ensure you’re flying your drone safely in the UK using Drone Assist, the drone safety app from NATS, the UK’s main Air Traffic Control provider, in partnership with Altitude Angel.
Please note that Drone Assist only provides airspace information for the UK.
Drone Assist provides location-based information on areas of airspace to avoid or in which extreme caution should be exercised, as well as on ground hazards that may pose safety, security or privacy risks.
Many drone pilots don’t realise that there are rules, set by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, for where and how you can fly your drone. This app will help you to abide by those rules, providing a tool to assist you in enjoying flying your drone whilst protecting your safety and the safety of other airspace users.
View areas of controlled airspace, such as airfields and airports, where flying a drone could be hazardous or prohibited
View ground hazards, such as schools, overhead power lines and sports venues, flying close to which may raise security, privacy or safety concerns and could breach UK rules on drone flying
Easily connect to www.dronesafe.uk – the drone safety website developed by NATS and the CAA, which provides you with further information on the rules around drone flying in the UK, including the CAAs Dronecode, information on CAA-approved training courses and other useful resources.

Satellite and hybrid option needed for map
Seems like a good idea, since I’m sure legislation will soon be arriving. Was a bit concerned about the big brother aspect of this app. It works well but needs a satellite view option for the map (or if it’s there I can’t find it). In wild areas, which are suitable for safe drone flying, the map has zero detail if planning a location in advance, since only streets are shown
If you're responsible drone flyer, this app serves as a great tool to check you're ground and airspace. This app is a no brainier download - Absolutely superb!
Just need the ability to delete completed flight reports, as I'd made a few test ones I'd like to get rid of!
Ok, I’ve downgraded 1 star (still a great app) though as others have said, need a Satellite view as not all hazards are in metro areas or areas that have roads!
(A big ask but) Would be great if one could plan waypoint missions and make this compatible with apps like Lichi etc.. that would make it super safe!
Really useful, must have for drone operators
I use the app every time before a flight to make sure I am aware of anything going on in the area that could impact my flying, however I feel that the app could do with some work as I find it a little buggy.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
