Top Free Sat Nav App
I originally had Co-Pilot, but was having issues with out of date maps, so decided to check out what others were available. After checking out about a dozen other free ones, and even a few paid options, I stumbled onto NavFree as it was called at the time.
It has always been great. Always up to date, with new roads being added very quickly indeed. In fact, I know a few roads on here that aren't even on TomTom yet.
I got Apple to refund me for the paid for SatNav apps, which meant I then paid the very reasonable £1.49 to remove ads from the app, and even thinking of buying the HUD upgrade for night driving as I'm doing more of that lately.
The NavMii France App has also been good, and will be leaving feedback there also as when I was on holiday there it saved me getting lost driving from DunKurque to St. Lo in Normandy.
Worth paying for, but glad it's free!!! Premium features don't cost the earth either which makes it well worth investing a few quid on.
Great app BUT......
Fantastic GPS, drive over 1000 miles per week and never sent me wrong yet (hgv driver).
Favourite destinations are STILL not stored alphabetically but in the order they are stored and you cannot rearrange them. Every update has lost me all my favourite addresses and i have to manually re-enter and this is still the same! (Annoying)
You need to understand how "satnav" gps work to get the best from them and fundamentally common sense HAS to be used, just because it says go down a road thats more suited to a tank does not mean you have to, ignore and it will recalculate an alternative route! Or just pull over zoom out the map and look for yourself.
Best free satnav rivals paid ones
I have tried most free and paid apps available and can say without doubt this is the best free app available. Map is clear and uncluttered and simple to use. Yes there are some in app purchases but these are relatively cheap compared to others. Try this you won't be disappointed. If I had any negative remarks it would be street names are a bit small and the map is about a second out from the actual turnings etc.
