Not Perfect, but always improving

Based on my experience of the various smart home controls available for heating and cooling, I find the Netatmo central heating relay reliable and reasonably intuitive. My only criticism would be that it seems to need a very strong Wi-Fi signal to maintain a solid connection to HomeKit. Whenever your home decides to switch between various HomeKit hubs it will lose connection intermittently. I assume this is more a problem of HomeKit than of the Netatmo relay.

Backwards in Features

This used to work with IFTTT to turn off the heating when you left and set it back to schedule when you arrived home.

They removed that feature and instead push you towards homekit which has some level of integration but only allows you to set a temperature and not activate a schedule based on entering or leaving home. This removes a very important festire of the energy app if you want to use it with Homekit so it seems like an unfinshed integration. This is a step back in functionality and puts the Netatmo system behind other smart Thermostats in my mind. Activating a heating schedule based on the house being occupied or empty is one of the main reasons for purchasing a smart thermostat and Netatmo now does it in a half broken way Leaving a disconnect between homekit and their own Energy app.

I find it very disappointing when features are rug pulled after purchase like this had this been the case before I purchased I would have gone with another system.

All pre programmed temps have been changed

This used to be great, but some update or something has happened, all my pre programmed settings have been changed, I had temps set for diferent situations, comfort, comfort +, eco and some of my own like evening or morning, etc, they have all be defaulted to 19degs, all my programmed schedules are now just 19degs, It took that long to tweek the schedules to get the heating temps correct for different times of the day and circumstances and it was that long ago that I have no idea now what it was set at, so after owning for about 5 years I am now back to square one. I went to try and change some, and it now looks like you have to change every setting in every schedule you have, so if you set comfort to a temp, it doesn’t follow through the rest of your schedules! What a joke! Netatmo used to be good, they have slowly gone down hill the last couple of years! Will be looking to change and move away due to issues like this!
