Customer Reviews

Good, not great

This could have been a great way for dedicated fans to follow the NFL outside the US, except that the NFL holds real fans in complete contempt. You pay for the subscription here, then you are also expected to pay for a Sky Sports subscription if you want to watch key games, particularly if you follow a popular or decent team, otherwise they are blacked out for 27-28 hours. All of the play-off games are blacked out, and because of the time difference, effectively it means waiting two days to watch the games - so good luck avoiding the spoilers on those. The Apple TV app is even worse - you'll get spoilers within the app itself there, posing as teasers to get you to highlights clips while the full games are still blacked out (but you can turn scores off, pointlessly). So, Game Pass could have been the place to catch it all, but it's not - and for an incomplete experience, it's expensive, particularly if you're paying extra to watch the post-season two days late.

Poor value for money

You don't get every game!

NFL fans in the UK are screwed whatever they chose to do - terrestrial TV has no games, Sky Sports is expensive and has no consistency to the games it choses, and so this would seem like the ideal alternative. It's not. My team had three games (maybe four now I think about it) "Blacked Out" this season, even though I paid for the more expensive option, because someone else bought the rights to show them. Wanna watch the post-season? The NFL will want another £36 off you (yeah, that's on top of the £100 or more that you've already paid).

The app itself is standard - pick a game, and watch it (if they'll let you). Given that you can find most games on an online steam for free, the price just isn't worth it. I might feel differently if you got every game (like advertised) and the post-season, but you don't!

Post season lets it down

I have been using GamePass for a few years now but this year has been a real let down. Some of the archive materials are not made available and multiple contacts to support get "you are important" automatic responses but nothing else. No follow up. Poor customer service.

To make matters worse, post season is a waste of time. The games are blacked out - often for longer than the 24 hours stipulated. And the service does its best to issue spoilers so that you can't even properly enjoy the games after the fact. Sky still has a monopoly in this market, which will ultimately limit the potential for the NFL international market in this region.
