Description

Live a productive, contextual life with OmniFocus 2 for Mac. Keep work and play separated with contexts, perspectives, and Focus. Ignore the irrelevant, focus on what you can do now, and accomplish more. And do it all much faster than before.

OmniFocus' interface was designed and organized around your data—your stuff—to make it easier and more natural for you to quickly get ideas into and out of the app, whether you’re using Getting Things Done™ (GTD™) or any other productivity system. It's powerful enough to use on its own, and syncs through the cloud with your other devices running OmniFocus (also available for iOS and Apple Watch).

OmniFocus 2 features everything you need to seriously get stuff done:

• AppleScript support enables all kinds of cool workflows.

Great App

Brownmarx

I’ve been using omni focus for a few months and it’s a great tool. It’s little expensive but I don’t begrudge that based on the value I get from it. If, like me, you have lots of devices, I’d hold off buying a copy for every format. I use it on my phone and mac / macbook but don’t see the value to also putting it on my iPad - despite using my iPad for work. Word of caution if you are planning of getting the Apple Watch App. If you add a task to your mac or macbook etc and expect it to appear immediately on the watch it won’t. The watch app is a compendium to the iPhone so you have to sync with your phone first. This is done by simply turning it on, of course, but as I was hoping to just use the watch and keep the phone in a pocket, it’s not quite worked out the way I expected. There may be a work around so I’ve put it as a point of note rather than scoring it low.

My only gripe is in relation to the ‘nearby' function. In theory the function is brilliant. The app is supposed to be able to notify you of actions based on your location ie when you pass a certain shop, the app tells you that you have something to buy from there. I found this very unpredictable and unreliable. It maybe more to do with the phone than the app but I’m using an iphone 6 on 4G so that’s surprising.

Overall, this is a great example of ‘getting things done’ productivity tool and the interface is easy and clean. It’s become like my right hand and i couldn’t live without it.

Great

I’ve never used a piece of management software before, and I ummed and ahhed for a long time before committing to OmniFocus…but I am really glad I took the plunge. It’s a great programme which does everything I need it to do, and more besides. It took me a little while to get to grips with it - and I’m sure there are other features/quirks which I haven’t even discovered yet - but I wanted to make sure I input all my work in the most suitable way for me. I checked out how others were using it on Omni’s website and was able to work out how best to configure it for me…so far I am really impressed. Also must mention the customer service provided by the company - I was having a little trouble with synchronisation and emailed them - I received a reply which explained they were very busy…but then received another within 12 hours with some suggestions as to how I might solve the problem (which worked btw!).

I’ve got it on my phone too, which it makes it super useful, esp for those thoughts which come to you at awkward times - I haven’t forgotten any of those silly little tasks which easily get left behind since I’ve had this software.

Easy to use, easy to configure to fit your own purposes, and to my mind, worth every penny. I’ve never left an app review before, but this is so good, I felt I ought to: if you’re considering this, especially if you’re new to GTD and/or management software in general, then go with OmniFocus - I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Superb application - much improved

I used the original Omnifocus for a while a couple of years back but soon returned to my then favourite task management application as I just found it too complicated and it lacked some of the functionality that I needed. I was therefore wary about committing more cash to Omnifocus 2 but just had a feeling that the way it has been developed would mean it was worth a shot. It has been worth it. It is proving to be a superb application for managing my multiple tasks & projects. The ‘review’ facility is so easy to use and keeps projects moving along week by week without daily intervention from me. I pretty much live in ‘Forecast' mode, enabling me to plan my day and week in a realistic way, especially since my calendar is also displayed. Integration with the iPhone app is seamless and reliable; I also like the iPad app though understand this is due to be updated to be more in line with the Mac and iPhone versions, which will be very nice when it happens. If I had a criticism, it would be that syncing can be a bit slow, certainly compared to other solutions that I have used. Nevertheless, this is not a major issue compared to the benefits. Overall I am delighted and feel in control of my task list. giving me time for example to write a review for once!
