This App is A crock of ...
Newsflash* computers are supposed to make life easier. This app either requires you to photograph the card number each time you want the balance or type in the cvs number each time you need the balance. The problem is photographing is a gimmick as the number is barely legible to the human eye never mind a camera because of the ridiculous pattern used as the background on the card, so is unreliable. I thought I’d therefore use the manual method and type in the long card number and cvs once and then the app would ‘remembered’ it so it would just require the selection of the ‘manual balance’ button. No chance. The app forgets the numbers if you ever close the app so you have to type the numbers in again, ffs. BTW, if you don’t give the app access to the camera because using the camera is a rubbish idea the app nags you that you haven’t given it access. Also you have to know the balance in case your transaction exceeds the balance as the transaction will fail, which makes wanting to use these cards for part payment a trial in itself. All this on top of the fact that these cards are a dumb idea in the first place. Either use cash or debit or credit cards which are acceptable everywhere instead.
Gift Cards work just fine!
We were given a couple of gift cards for Christmas and have just spent them online in the sales with no trouble at all.
The retailer cannot check the balance of a card so you have to either spend up to the amount available or do a "part payment", we just spent the amount on the cards with some careful basket filling!
If you try and spend more than is on the card it just rejects the transaction.
If the retailer does not show the Gift Card as a payment option then choose VISA (Credit) along with the CVV number on the back and your own name.
All in all a great gift idea that doesn't tie you down to single retailer.
I have 3 One4All cards that I have been given over the last few birthdays and Christmases and haven’t needed to use them. As a result I had completely forgotten what balance was on them.
I tried using the website on my phone to check the balance but had no joy so tried the app and I had no problem at all once I had allowed the app to use my camera.
Each card was registered in a couple of seconds, prompts you to send a text with the number and the balance was returned within about 10 secs.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
