Pretty Good

Online Pianist is quite a good app for learning how to play songs on the piano, especially songs that come from a TV show. I've been using it for the past three days to learn one song in particular.
One issue I seem to have is the search button. It's quite glitchy. Sometimes, when I type a song into the bar and press search, no results come up and the song I typed 'vanishes' from the bar.
I'd also like it if there was an option to buy a single sing, rather than having to buy a subscription. It's a tad annoying how you can only get 30 seconds of the song without you buying a subscription.
Of course, there is the free song every three days, which I think is a neat feature.

Hi! Thank you for the great review, and we hope you enjoy our app.

Can you please describe more about the problem you face with the search experience through our support email: support@onlinepianist.com, also mention the other issues you have and we will do our best to solve it.

Thank you very much!

Dear developer(s)

As a complete beginner to the piano, I thought this app was going to be brilliant and let me play, but this app had to prove me wrong. I started using this app and thought ‘Wow this is explaining things so I understand what is what’. Then as I began to play the first song it was far too quick. So I turned down the speed (the tutorial notes helped with that) And began to slowly play once again. Once I began again I realised that it wasn't picking up my mistakes. Out of curiosity, I stopped playing to see what would happen. It carried on gladly without me so after a minute of waiting I used the bar at the top and skipped right through. And guess what the large letters on the top said? ‘Well done, wonderfully played’ underneath this caption were the words, ‘ready to play the next song.’ Thinking this had gone wrong I deleted the app and redownloaded it. I tried it again. And the same thing happened again.
I am appalled by this app and would not recommend this app to anyone. I see people fine with it but no one has this problem so if it is a bug please reply if it is something you can solve or not.

Developer Response ,

Hi and thanks for the review.

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the app. However, in the upcoming year, we will launch a new and exciting learning experience accompanied by MIDI & audio sound recognition as you described. The app will listen to you play on the instrument at home and give you real-time feedback on your playing.

In addition, a MIDI cable (& also the device microphone for users without MIDI) will be launched in two months.
In the meantime, we would like to give you 2 songs with no extra charge from our catalog.
Simply reply with your user ID and the name of the songs to contact@onlinepianist.com, and we will add them to your songbook 🙂
Always, The OnlinePianist team

Makes learning to play a lot easier

I find learning to play through this app a lot easier than from music sheets. You can start on an easy level and work up to medium and hard levels which sound better and enhance your playing abilities.
Fingering is shown along with the basic chord that’s being played. This helps an awful lot for a beginner/intermediate that might not be using the correct fingers. You can repeat a section again and again to aid practice. You can also slow down the piece if it’s a bit too fast.
Rewind and fast forward is easy as you just swipe left and right. Very useful to go over certain parts.
The choice of songs is quite good, I’d prefer alot more songs, but there are many to learn so I’m going to be busy for a while!
