Who are Anquet?

Anquet have over 10 years of experience creating digital mapping software for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s all we do, and we do it well if we judge that by the number of group test wins our PC software has won over the years.

With OMN iPhone we set out to build a tool you will use.
Serious navigation requires serious tools. We know that. If you can’t fire up OMN iPhone and depend on it, then you won’t entrust your navigation to it. OMN iPhone has rock solid performance.

Anquet Cloud

You want to plot your route on a large screen with a mouse. You want to navigate with your phone. So you need the data in two places, and you want that movement of data to just happen. Anquet Cloud makes things simple. No wires and no websites.
Fire up OMN PC, and draw a route. Hit the Route Sync button, and that route is now on your Anquet Cloud account. Inside OMN iPhone, hit Route Sync, and it’s on your phone. Simple.
Wherever you have a 3G or Wifi data connection you can sync your route data and download maps from your Anquet Cloud account.
New phone? No problem, just download OMN iPhone, login with your email and password and download your routes and maps.

OMN PC is a free PC application. Please visit to download. Use it to purchase maps, plot routes and sync it all to Anquet Cloud for use on your iOS device.

Seamless maps

OMN maps on all platforms are seamless. Buy two maps that overlap, and they will just merge in your data. No need to load a different map, or see any gaps. You can therefore also just buy the mapping you need now, as you can add to it anytime you wish.

Updated review following response from the developer

I have bought maps from Anquet and used them a lot. They now charge for the new version of OMN to access the maps I bought from them. So they are now holding my maps to ransom until I buy their new product and pay an annual access.

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Update - the company immediately reacted to my review justifying why they are introducing the new chargeable service to access the maps that I purchased outright from them (Nothing new - just another reiteration of the mail I have been receiving from them for weeks justifying the changes). Their access charge via OMN plus map license is higher than Ordnance Survey charge for the same mapping. The offer of free use of OMN until November 2017 is a marketing tool to get existing users used to the new product then forcing us to. pay to access maps that were purchased outright from Anquet. I shall write off the purchase of maps from Anquet as a loss and use the original data supplier (OS) going forward knowing that I will always know I am getting the newest map from the original supplier.

Developer Response

** Update – we responded straight away to you, as we do run a support desk and look after our users. We are not holding your maps to ransom – you can use them in the apps you purchased them on. Unfortunately, the iOS app does not run on iOS 11. If you stick on iOS 10, everything will continue to run. We haven’t changed anything.
What you appear to want, is for Anquet to keep creating new apps, allowing map downloads from our servers and answering support tickets from now until eternity for no extra revenue. That just is not a plausible business.
We do now have an iOS 11 app which is part of our subscription system along with our new macOS, PC and Android apps. We have spent the last two years building these from the ground up. As we believe we offer a service, we are now charging our new system as a subscription so that users pay for what they consume.

I am glad you have enjoyed a lot of use of our mapping, and I hope you continue to do so. The current system is still available for your use and is not changing at the current time.

In many ways we have for many years and continue to do so offered a service - the ability to re-download your maps, sync via Anquet Cloud, software updates and support. These things all cost money, and so OMN 2017 has moved to a subscription system so that going forward we can recoup these costs and continue to offer a first rate service to paying customers.

Our new system cost a lot to build, and map downloads especially on our desktop systems are expensive to support. People don't download 20GB of maps to an iPhone very often, but they do to their desktop. We therefore offer our new Standard subscriptions to loyal customers such as yourself, that start from just £10 per year to cover your use of our four brand new apps on: iOS, macOS, PC and Android, access to your maps within the new platforms, and access to our first rate support system, along with software updates.

For a minimal cost, we believe we are extending the life of your maps well beyond the natural life of the average app. If you don't wish to subscribe, then you are free to carry on using the existing apps you have been using.

We are also offering all current customers a free complimentary subscription until the end of November 2017.

If you need more information about our Standard subscriptions for current customers, please reach out to our support desk who will be very happy to help.

App is about to become junk

I love OMN. Unfortunately having done a bit of research this version will become junk with the next iOS update, as will all the maps I've purchased.
Anquet are aware of this and are releasing a new version. The new version won't let me use my already purchased maps. Anquet are moving to a subscription model and want to charge me for something I've already purchased.
The subs are outrageously high with a minimum spend of £24 per year... yes they're a business but that's a bit steep given I've already purchased a lifetime use of the map tiles I'm interested in.
I can't recommend anyone download this app and strongly advise you not to purchase any map tiles from Anquet given they are about to become junk.
Back to paper maps...

Developer Response

We are in the process of submitting the new iOS app to Apple, so we should have that live very soon now. The new app will of course work with iOS 11.

Regarding the subscription, £24 would be the OS Premium subscription which would give you completely new OS 1:25,000 Explorer and 1:50,000 Landranger mapping for all of Great Britain updated approximately four times per year. That same £24 would also give you access to our new apps on macOS, iOS, Android and PC and our support systems and Anquet Cloud to sync route data between them all.

As you are already a customer, if you don't require the up-to-date maps, you can opt for our Standard subscriptions - these start from just £10 per year and give you access to the maps you already have in the new system. i.e. the £10 covers Anquet's costs of the new software, map downloads and our support system. Hopefully that is more inline with what you would expect for that service.

There is a lot of change right now with the new software coming online, and we are trying our best to make it all easy to understand, but there are a lot of variables.

I believe this link may well help you:

But please, if you have any concerns, please do reach out to our support desk and we can address any questions you have.

Met expectations, but took a while to get loaded

I had a few problems setting it up (see below), but once resolved throughout brilliant support from Bill in support, it has worked perfectly.
I bought some tiles for my iPad. Then found I needed to buy the app. Then found that I first need to load the map onto a PC first. Then found the map wouldn't let me select the area I needed. Finally resolved by Bill & Graham in support. Thanks guys!
