4.0 Has Redeemed This App

I was very negative towards this app because there were many little accessibility and usability issues. Thankfully, many of them are now fixed and I can say that it is a good app once again.

I do have one request though, the ability to delete multiple episodes from within a playlist. I had to manually remove over 200 episodes when I installed 4.0 and that wasn't fun at all. Other players have a "Mark All As Played" option within there UI, surprising Overcast doesn't have it. My issues with colons being spoken seems to have gone away - not sure if that's an issue with the voice I use and it was resolved in iOS 11 but it works as expected now.

It's a good player and small in footprint so I think it's an improvement

Hands down better than Apple’s app

I’d tried Overcast a few years ago but after a some weeks of trying I still felt more comfortable with Apple’s app.

However after Apple’s (absolutely terrible) native podcast app was poorly redesigned for iOS 11 I felt it worth checking out Overcast again.

Now, it’s not the perfect app. But it is leagues better than Apple’s monstrosity. It took me a couple days to get your head around (I’d used the old native podcast app for so many years I was truly indoctrinated).

One of the best things I noticed was it’s download speed. Apple’s app would just seem to hang when trying to download, but this app rips it down to your phone super fast.

Both Apple and Overcast allow for auto-deletion of listened to podcasts. However, one feature I’d suggest is keeping ‘x’-newest-listened-to podcasts. As I like to keep recent podcasts on my phone to listen to again. And it would be handy if it kept the 3 newest episodes while deleting older, listened to podcast. (Perhaps this is possible now and I’m just doing it wrong).

In support of this app doing a good job I’m happy to be a subscriber.

Keep up the good work, guys and girls.
