Awful time with this app, started out good then let us down for whatever reason
Everything was working fine for a few months, I liked it although it was quite limited. Then it cocked up all the settings saying my son had been on 6 hours in a day when his phone was home and he was at school then it continually did that every day. He was being locked out every day. I queried this with kl so we were asked to delete the apps on both machines and reload. We did this and still had different problems. It wasn’t great and we all got more and more frustrated with this application that we stopped payments for it as it hadn’t worked for a few weeks. Now we are in a circular situation in that we allegedly haven't completely finished properly, so we got back in touch with kl and they asked us to go through their finishing procedures, we clicked their link and attempted to and we got stuck after the email & password was entered and was then asked for a pin, which we forgot, so we keep hitting the forgot my pin dialogue box and it takes us back to enter email & password, and on and on and on. The password which we wrote down was perfectly correct. So now i await their helpline again. I want this sorted but it looks like it has a way to run yet. The only good thing is their support people do contact you, however we are yet to establish closure of this, I’ll let you know. Such a shame, I thought this would be the answer to controlling phone-time.
Thank you for your review and sorry for the inconveniences you've faced. Our developers are now working on the issue and the fix will be released until the end of the week. Concerning your other issue, please, wait for the answer from our support team who will help you solve it asap. In case you have any other questions do not hesitate to contact our specialists (firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone +1 888 749 50 56) who'll answer all of them in a short time.
Messes up all your settings.
I tried this app a year ago and it simply didn't do what I needed which was to limit time on some apps (games) whilst allowing kids more time for others (school apps etc). I tried it again after an announcement that it solves this problem by cutting internet access but a) it still doesn't allow you to control the amount of time spent on each app - only the total amount of time. And it totally messes up your settings. The profile download totally removed the App Store from both my children's iPads. Plus, they can simply the delete the Kidslox app and contrary to what K'lox say on the website, it no longer controls their device. A great concept but still far away from working MEANINGFULLY. Those reviews where people love it must be very young kids who don't know how to delete apps, and access the app store...or don't dare to challenge parents authority in which case I question they need the app in the first place. And to use it in any meaningful way requires you to upgrade so the free trial period is meaningless.
Thank you for your review, but we respectfully disagree with it. As for the daily limit, for now we have daily limits for individual apps only on Android devices, while on IOS we have individual app blocking and general daily limits. Concerning settings issue and any other problems that you may have, we would suggest you contacting our support team (email@example.com) and they will give you a hand with everything. We also want to add that it is you, who sets up restrictions on app store and decides to block it or not with the help of Kidslox.
Not quite good enough
I got this a year or so ago and deleted it. I recently reinstalled it and it has improved but it’s still not quite there.
Individual app blocking - No. Only apps that require an internet connection can be blocked.
Child mode - you can’t decide what apps go in child mode and what don’t - it’s based on the apps age rating. This is OK but it would be better if you could decide what got blocked and what was not.
Last time I reviewed this app I got an email from the boss so this is obviously a developer that cares. Let’s hope they can sort these issues out.
Until then it is a bit of a blunt instrument. If all you want is to impose time limits then it’s good enough. If you are looking for a bit more for your premium subscription then it has a way to go.
Thank you for your review. This is very important for us. Yes, you are right. At the moment not all apps can be individually blocked on iOS platform. Unfortunately, we can't block apps individually due to technical peculiarities of the iOS platform (so, now iOS users can block apps either by age rating or block 43 three internet-based apps. Very soon we will add more apps to the list). We understand that parents want to have more options, so we add new features when this becomes possible. Our app has many other great features like Daily Limits, Content Blocking, Timer, and Schedules. Everyone can test our app and check how it works. We are always ready to help via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or via phone - +1-888-749-50-56.
