Nowhere near as good as the old system
I agree with most of the other comments. This system, which replaced the original, was supposed to be a big improvement. Not so!! As already stated by another reviewer, when ordering medications I can no longer track progress. The old system would have a status report such as “Requested” and “Processed” so you knew when to pick up at the pharmacy. Surely this new and supposedly improved system could incorporate such a facility. The site also often crashes with notices saying “Please try later”. This just isn’t good enough when you want to arrange an urgent GP appointment! The site is nowhere near as user friendly as the previous system and I’m considering going back to the old method of sitting on the ‘phone trying to get through to my GP Practice and dropping in paper medication requests. Currently it would be quicker and far easier! Please sharpen up your act!!!
I have a saying - if it ain't broke, don't try & fix it. But that's exactly what's happened here. They've taken something which was pretty good on the whole, working quite well for the most part, but ruined it for goodness-knows-why to the point where it hardly works at all. There are ALWAYS issues just for logging in in the first place, between numeric User ID (however you get one?!) and email address. Then there's everything else - by no means user friendly; difficult to find way around / a lot more long winded; information not clear, too much visual 'noise' / wasted screen space; there are only 3 jobs this has to do which were just about ok before - booking appointment with GP, ordering repeat prescriptions, seeing confirmation and progress of those. All now really screwed up. Much more difficult, now, to do either of those with this app; utter rubbish!
Destroyed by geeks and nerds with delusions of competence.
This is typical of something happening all too frequently - efficient, straightforward apps getting into the hands of techies with a degree of confidence that convinces them they don’t need to actually test the consequences of the havoc they’ve generated. This country is cursed by such incompetent arrogance. The real tragedy is that no one connected with Patient Access actually reads these reviews so nothing gets done. Maybe one day Patient Access will realise they’ve been stitched up; the least they should do is ask for their money back and get the job done by someone with a bit of expertise.
It is actually possible to trace the progress of a repeat prescription request, but it’s not obvious or straightforward. As I say, no one seems to have tested the app to find this out.
