Patient Access connects you to healthcare services when you need them most. Book GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions and explore your local pharmacy services.

NEW: You can now create a Patient Access account without linking to your UK GP practice and enjoy the following features:

• If you’re feeling under the weather, search for symptoms and find patient information articles
• Self-refer to NHS services such as talking therapies, sexual health, antenatal care and drug and alcohol addiction services
• Choose from over 30 services provided by your local community pharmacy and book in the app
• Access and read medical advice and healthy living tips from the experts
• Sign in quickly, easily and securely with Touch or Face ID
• Swiftly check if you can link to your GP

If you are able to link your Patient Access account to your GP practice, you can also get access to the following features where they are made available by your practice:

• Book face-to-face or remote online appointments with your GP, nurse or clinician at a time that suits you
• Request repeat prescriptions online, with convenient delivery to your preferred pharmacy
• View your medical record, including test results, immunisations and allergies
• Securely share your medical record with healthcare professionals of your choosing, without the need to contact your practice
• Look after your loved ones and act on their behalf to book appointments and repeat prescriptions
• Message your GP directly from within Patient Access at home or on the move
• Where your practice has enabled it, book a remote video consultation with your GP, nurse or clinician

You must be a registered patient at a participating practice to use the GP-linked features in Patient Access.

Good but needs adjustments to functioning.

Patients Access used to be excellent when I could use it from the website. Since the website was ditched and it can only be accessed through this app. the functionality has been affected and not for the better. The poor formatting means I can't see my medication history anymore on my iPad. Moving from the Home Page to retrieve more information is no longer clear and easy as with the previous website. It is so disappointing that Patients Access is no longer excellent like it used to be. Someone needs to look at improving the functionality of the app. for iPad users or re-open the former website.
UPDATE: 16 August 2019. I have now purchased an Apple iPad6 to replace my old iPad2 which was eight years old. The functionality issues I was experiencing with my iPad2 have now been resolved using my new iPad6. Patient Access is a much better experience now.
The only thing I'd like changing is that the Log Out is on the Home Screen and much more prominent. At the moment, the only way to find it is to press 'More' at the bottom of the page which is odd.

Using app

Using this app is fantastic when ordering repeat prescriptions. However I wish we could use this system when ordering HRT as last time I had to ring up reception to enable a text to be sent to my mobile to fill in online forms. Unfortunately the phone was not answered until I waited 20 minutes then I was cut off so I drove round to the surgery to be told of this new system This new system did not work ( HRT Text) and although I was there talking to the receptionist she advised me that that was the only way I could order it ( this was Friday) so she told me she would re-send the text Monday morning. I waited until midday on Monday and still I had not received the HRT text which meant me calling them back again . Finally I got through and was sent a text. So I’m guessing I will have to do order my HRT this way again?
Please make it easier and less time consuming to order things like HRT & contraceptive pill.

Great concept !

This has the potential to make life easier and avoid lengthy waits in the phone . However as a competent smart phone / app user I sometimes struggle to navigate my way on this app . Its not always clear when appointments are available also if my condition isn’t one of those listed it implies that I can therefore not book an appointment, even when instructed to be the surgery . ( ie book a GP appointment to discuss results ). Needs more explanation regarding how to book a GP appointment and why they may not been available. If I’ve had a missed called from the surgery a message to say who rang and why would be appreciated also suggest you have a missed calls policy as it appears that if you’ve missed a call that’s your one opportunity and not to expect whoever to try again . ( ie could have been answering the door , in the bathroom or putting down a baby ) . Thank you for all that you are doing !
