Simply log on with your existing Online Banking details. If you don’t have any log on details, just download the app to sign up.

You can:
• check your account balances
• transfer money between your accounts
• see up to 4 years of transactions
• set up new payees and make payments (setting up new payee is available on iPhone only)
• set up, view, amend and cancel standing orders (available on iPhone only)
• view and cancel your Direct Debits (available on iPhone only)
• use mobile-to-mobile payments (Paym) to send payments securely using only a mobile number
• choose voucher-less offers with Retailer Offers to spend using any of your Santander debit or credit cards
• set up alerts for when your balance goes over, or drops below, a certain amount

• request to reset your existing log on details (available on iPhone only).

Simply a poor application compared to other banking apps.


I have just opened a Santander account and stated to use this application for my Santander banking needs online. I also bank with the Halifax online using there application. I thought the experience would be the same. It isn’t! My big big bear right now is that pending transactions on this application apparently don’t exist. I paid 3 phone bills yesterday for family members and I have no pending transactions listed. Nor are they listed in the transaction section. (Which is very basic I may add). So the pending amounts which have gone out aren’t in either of the transaction section nor the pending transaction section. The money has been detected as being removed via the balance amount because I can do basic math. But I have no idea when or if it will appear in the transaction section. I rang the bank. After 2 transfers of being held, I am told “Pending transactions only work on the application for credit cards” which is frankly insane. What I expect from this application and what you get are two very different things. Other problems are, I have a message notification on the app I can’t read. You can’t use fingerprint identification. It looks like an app which isn’t receiving funding to bring the infrastructure behind it in line with other modern banking applications. Just don’t expect to know where you money is or where it’s gone with this bank. Poor, very poor.



Unfortunately Santander has fallen behind other banks in regards to app functionality and updates. Two months have gone by and still no update to support iPhone X which is frustrating! The app is not very responsive and can be glitchy. For example, pressing one account I want to view will actually open another instead (e.g. wanting to view my current account but actually opens my savings instead) - touch response is a bit off possibly due to no support for iPhone X.

One positive is that Santander supply ‘my offers’ cashback from a list of retailers which is great, but occasionally it will error and not allow you to load the list of offers - sometimes for days... so this becomes useless and you can miss out as a result.

Santander is a great bank, so it definitely needs a great app to compliment it! It could do with more frequent updates, and become more responsive in terms of customers needs... Certainly needs more speedy support. Santander could definitely take some notes from Monzo! There’s a lot to learn there in terms of banking services that can be given within a single app.

Touch/Face ID and Notifications need fixing


You never got round to touch ID access and now we have Face ID and you still haven’t caught up.
You are seen as a rogue app, enforcing your own sign-in verification method, completely out of sync with the rest of the banking industry. Santander do not know best, millions of users and their preferences do.

Notifications - it’s long been a pain to get the ‘you have been logged out’ notification from the app. Again it’s out of line with what everyone wants and with what every other banking app does. Now we have iPhone X this is made even more annoying: you see a notification flash up and feel compelled to read it, you have to unlock your phone with Face ID to read it, only to see it’s the ‘you have been logged out’ notice that you don’t need to be told about! Get rid of this!!

The solution will be for me to stop notifications altogether for the app via iPhone settings until this is resolved, is its very frustrating. This will mean missing things I need to see but will be a small price to pay. Suggest others do the same.
