One more time, the veritable blast from the past, a legend amongst pinballs is back!
This time we are giving you a HD-3D version with all the 4 original tables and it works on pretty much everything starting from iPhone 3GS. Smooth as silk, 60FPS all the way!
20 years ago Pinball Dreams almost single-handedly created the pinball simulator genre. 20 years later it is still one of the best pinball simulations ever created with addictive tables giving hours and hours of challenge and fun!
Our original Pinball Dreams iOS port was chosen by the Edge Magazine as one of the best 50 iPhone games.
The game features Game Center leaderboards and anti-aliasing on iPad2.
What's New in Version 1.2
- slightly improved touch response
- 2 new camera modes (static and classic 2D)
- fixed a bug when changing orientation in GC
- other bug fixes and graphical improvements
Great port of an Amiga classic, with all the sounds of the original game, but while some think the perspective is an improvement, for me it "seems" to make the game slower, visually at least, and for one, I prefer the scrolling screen of the original, which is available as Pinball Dreaming, (and seems really quick).
Responsiveness of the flippers isn't too bad (perhaps better than the "dreaming" version, however it would have been better to use motion sensor to cause tilts rather than central spot on screen.
On my 3GS the game crashes at game end, I have to reload from scratch to play again. (the "dreaming" version does not)
So in summary, a little flawed with less of the gameplay and feel of the original, but definitely all the features and nostalgia.
Undoubtably the best series of video pinball games ever, but I think the 2D "dreaming" version plays better, is faster, clearer, less garish colour rendering, and doesn't crash...
Just like I remember!
Having spent many an afternoon stuck in front of my Amiga trying to beat my brothers highscore on Ignition or Graveyard, this brings back many happy memories. I was a little worried that the 3D would change how the ball bounces around but it seems to be just like the original. This is a perfect example of how to do a remake of a classic. Thanks so much for all the hard work. The only slight improvement would to make the flippers a bit faster to respond to touches for hits and releases, sometimes the ball rolls into the gutter before my press is registered, so I have to preempt most of the hits, which is okay most of the time but I can't get those reaction shots that need split second timing. That's minor point though, I still love the game, thanks again for putting all the work in to make this for us!
I played this game on the Amiga decades ago and lost whole weekends in the pursuit of just one more high score.
I have played many pinball simulators on my Mac since then (and quite a few on the PC) but nothing has ever matched up to Pinball Dreams for sheer playability. I bought this app with some trepidation, expecting to be disappointed.
Though this isn't quite the same game as it was on the Amiga (you can't bash the keyboard on your desk in frustration!) it is so like the original that I felt like I had dropped through a time warp.
This app is well worth every penny, cent, shekel or groat.
