At a glance our worldwide coverage includes -
• Europe 95% - realtime
• North America – 100% via slightly US delayed data – Nationwide realtime ADS-B network in place and capturing 95% of ADS-B equipped aircraft
• Rest of World – Excellent coverage in Australia, New Zealand, Central America, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, Dubai, India, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Maldives, Mauritius, Singapore, Hong Kong and many more countries
Plane Finder works by picking up real time ADS-B and MLAT signals used by aircraft to transmit positional data to land based receivers. This technology is faster than traditional radar and is used for air traffic control and navigation. ADS-B is not used by all airlines or aircraft, however this is changing and the number of aircraft tracked by ADS-B is increasing all of the time. Traditional radar type data in real time is also included for North America.

I've always been interested in commercial aviation, this app is great to see the 'bigger picture' of the sky traffic around the world. Living in a major UK city there's a lot of flight paths high above my garden, I always look up at the planes and wonder where they're from, where they're going, as well as their speed and altitude. With the augmented reality, now I can just look through the camera and see everything I want :)
£2.99 is not expensive for this kind of app. If you're a plane nerd, just interested in the knowing about the flights overhead (perhaps wishing you were in one of them!), or one of those idiots convinced the government is trying to control us with 'chem trails' then I'd recommend this app! (Unless you're actually a chem trail nut, in that case I recommend you stop believing everything you read on the Internet and get an actual education)
I initially purchased this app just to track a family members return from holiday flight but was amazed how good it is and now enjoy using it ever day. It becomes adictive checking on planes you hear passing overhead and getting to know the regulars.
The app itself responds quickly and works great. It manages to display a fantastic amount of information on a small screen in a simple, attractive and user friendly way. The care that has gone into the design is also reflected in the customer service. I emailed the developers with a question / feedback and got an immediate, friendly and helpful response. Keep up the good work!
Better than the most popular app !
The great thing about this app is that it doesn't censor or filter flights out in the way another competitor does.
Could do with a little more accuracy as some flights are still carrying previous flight details but that might be due to the plane rather than the app.
Would be better if it didn't project flights for 30 minutes or so, resulting in overruns etc at airports but I have to say I am very happy with this app and great value for money.
