Reproduced under the terms of the Click Use License C2009000432. The Sentencing Guidelines are produced and copyrighted by the Government’s Sentencing Guidelines Council. It is a statutory obligation on every Magistrates’ Court to have regard to their publication. If a court gives a different decision then it has to give reasons for doing so. The effect is that most sentencing decisions follow the guidance.
What's New in Version 1.2
Update includes latest guidelines from the Sentencing Guidelines Council. Including:
Theft: Non-dwelling and Breach of ASBO.
Why have this app when the contents are freely available from the Sentencing Council
So far as I can see the material is a direct copy of the Magistrates' Court Sentencing Guidelines produced by the SGC and now available from the Sentencing Council. I suppose that it's free, but the problem is the replication. It is just about readable on an iPhone but becomes illegible on a iPad. It's just as easy to download the PDF file from the Sentencing Council and then store it in iBooks.
Not what I thought it was going to be
The app is fine if your after quick info on motoring offences. As a law student would be really helpful to have an app that would answer quick questions on for instance civil or crim litigation matters or property law stuff like when certain incumbrances are binding etcetc. Summary: not a very useful app.
This app contains very little of any use. It does not do a fraction of what the developers say it does.
