What’s New

Version 8.5.0

Sharing is caring, and Pocket users love to share articles with each other! Beginning today, if you use the app to share an article with another Pocket user through Messages, it will automatically appear in their Home under “Shared with You”.
It works the same way if they share something with you!
(You may need to enable Pocket in Settings - Messages - Shared with You for this to work)
Speaking of caring: you can now highlight numbered lists without fear of crashing. If that excites you, consider expressing your enthusiasm in Messages with one of the new stickers included with this release!

Excellent at what it does - poor widgets

Great collecting and reading experience - it just works beautifully and makes it simple and pleasurable to save stuff and read/watch it later. I also really like the recommendations/trending and would like to see that expanded. I was on Instapaper for years but moved to pocket because i prefer it. I have a lot of time for this app but the widgets are rubbish - you can’t see your own collection and they use the space terribly. I also worry the app is a privacy nightmare, would be nice if privacy/not selling your data was something you could pay to opt out of.

Terrible update

I have been a devoted user of Pocket for quite some time, but the recent updates, which I find utterly preposterous, compelled me to export all my articles and transition to its competitor. The situation is truly dire. I am sincerely baffled by the thought process of the developers. It appears that an abundance of ill-advised decisions and a complete disregard for aesthetic sensibilities have culminated from entrusting this app to individuals who lack a genuine appreciation for reading. The very essence of a reading app lies in providing a distraction-free platform for users to delve into articles. Pure, unadulterated reading—nothing more, nothing less. Alas, they have eradicated the option to customize the background, robbing us of the chance to select a visually appealing setting that best suits our eyes. Furthermore, they have subjected us to a mere duo of abominable font choices, leaving much to be desired. The margins, in their current state, resemble an untidy jumble, exemplifying an unparalleled level of poor design. The entire experience is nothing short of lamentable. UPDATE 5th July: I have effectively deleted my account on Pocket. Moved to OMNIVORE and let me tell you, I’m quite happy! 😊😊😊

Developer Response ,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our newest Save to Pocket update. We appreciate your preference for Pocket for some time, and we're sorry that this recent changes have impacted your workflow. Pocket's core feature continues to be the ability to save and read content, but we understand how uncomfortable it must be to not be able to customize your reading environment, and we've shared your review with our team, so they are aware this is important for you. Our iOS team continues to work on improving our existing features, and your patience is deeply appreciated!
