Not too bad...
This app seemed well rated so I thought I'd give it a go. For the most part it's okay, but there are definitely a few issues. For starters, as a complete beginner things could be explained a little better, particularly the transitions which are barely explained at all. The moves themselves are easier to understand looking at the picture, but most of the time you're not really meant to be looking in the direction of the screen, so it's a bit jarring to have to keep trying to figure things out, and it definitely kills the relaxing factor stone dead.
Secondly, the voice. Most of the time it's fine, but I don't think she could have chosen a more annoying way to say 'inhale' and 'exhale' (which probably wouldn't be quite so bad if she didn't have to say them A LOT).
Hopefully I'll get used to it in time though. I've always been fairly flexible, but that's been gradually lessening, so hopefully I'll get that back! (I'm only 20, so hopefully it won't take too long…)
I was a total yoga beginner and a real couch potato. I don't have a lot of motivation but I have begun to put on weight and I wanted to find something to help me get a little fitter, more flexible and maybe lose some weight. As other people have mentioned, the poses aren't really explained but I found that if I followed the instructions and tried to match the picture on the screen, it seemed to work for me. It's tough at first but the more you do the better it gets. My biggest problem with exercise is starting it in the first place, so I'm amazed that this seems to have caught my interest. It isn't dull. I think that's what I like about it. And there are different variations you can do. I'm by no means perfect and some days I still can't be bothered but this is the first time I've ever sort of enjoyed exercising.
I bought this a couple of weeks ago now and though it took a while to get used to, I now LOVE IT. In fact I'm almost addicted and if I don't get my daily session I feel slightly lost and guilty. The graphics are beautiful and clearly show each of the positions. The music is relaxing and, unlike some other reviewers, I really like the voice of the instructor - I find it clear, consise and calming - PLEASE don't change this. I would have rated this 5-star, but there is one small thing that I found slightly frustrating and that is referals during the lessons to yoga terms which are never explained anywhere, such as "softening", and certain breathing techniques. I know that I can look these up on the net, but a glossary or introduction would have been nice. Apart from that, GREAT APP.
