POLAR Instant allows you to simply and instantaneously access a national estate of charging points simply from you smart phone. You do not need to bother with and advance registration process and or an RFID card. Hundreds of charging points area available across the country including many rapid chargers. Many of the charging points have no electricity costs to use and the chargeable ones have the tariff clearly shown on your smartphone.
Fixes an issue when topping up using a MasterCard.

The App is OK Polar is Variable
I’ve used this App only for three charge locations in London, Milton Keynes and Tain. To use it there is a minimum £20 charge, this is excessive in relation to the cost of using their network.
The app is slow to connect but did work reliably in the first two locations. My most recent use up in Tain was unsuccessful when using the 3-pin plug but worked on the same charge point when accessing the type 2 socket.
I think top ups of £5 or £10 would make the app and network more useful. They also need to increase their presence on the North & Scotland to male it worth while for me.
Terrible app, terrible service
Avoid avoid avoid. Crashed first time, with a stuck loop of warnings (can’t stop charge). Locked cable to the unit. Customer service are friendly but can’t do much and wouldn’t send engineer when I’ve repeatedly told them there’s a software error on the unit (socket 2 unplugging often screws up socket 1 leaving cable locked in). Spent an hour trying to reboot unit / unlock cable and when i had to leave, they refused to take responsibility for my cable in case it was released when I was home and someone took it... government needs to sort out companies with poor service stuffing those who need the security of being able to charge.
Polar Instant need to provide umbrella’s
Tried unsuccessfully to charge using the app (it has worked once before), stuck on the message ‘connecting to post’, moved to another post and same problem. Tried plugging in and out in the pouring rain, sadly this will be the nail in the head for my 5 year old Leaf, running it with a reduced range would be fine but not if the charging network lets me down. Customer services were helpful but didn’t resolve the issue.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
