Fantastic Pregnancy App

I’m 22 years young and I’m expecting my first bub. All super exciting however at first it was quite scary because so many places tell you different things about you and the baby each week and some things don’t even make sense.
I read the reviews for this app and decided I’ll give it go and from previous experience with apps I was thinking this will be just like the rest but I was totally wrong!! No ads popping in and out, the app as far as I’ve had it hasn’t froze. I’ve had the app since I was 2 weeks and I’m now 18 weeks. Due 26th March 2020!! It gives you clear and understanding information you need to know. It’s extremely helpful when you need advice or tips.
The baby looks so realistic that it does pump you with excitement.
So I definitely and honestly recommend this app for friends, family and anybody else who is expecting.
And also I love the fact the app says FREE and not like most apps, you download then they are crafty to snap a payment from you wheres this app doesn’t! So thank you to the person who created this wonderful app. 🤰 100% recommend.🤰

Great functionality but content needs updating

The app functionality works great - it has never crashed on me or closed expectantly. I’ve enjoyed using this app and check it most days. The content overall is very good - some helpful week by week articles, visualisations of baby week by week etc. If looking for enhancement opportunities I would say refreshing the content would be a great thing to consider as during COVID some of the advice is out of date. Advice like going swimming - I really wish I could :) - isn’t practical at the moment for 99% of people. Other, newly prescient, advice - like setting up a virtual support network - is missing. I was also disappointed to see that some recent NHS messaging (re not being put off getting help if needed etc) is labelled as “sponsored”. This implies the NHS has to pay for the service which feels discordant with public sentiment and not the right thing to do. If they have paid, I’m disappointed in the company for making that decision. If not and the NHS received it free or at a discount, perhaps add a note to the NHS message as this would be very “feel good” for app users. Secondly, the app could be more inclusive on language for people who are expecting but who don’t identify as female. If I were a man or non binary person I’m not sure I would feel very well catered for in terms of language. This is a super easy fix - just add more options on sign up and be careful how you edit the articles.

We're really pleased to hear that you have found the app to be useful and that you enjoy using it. Whilst it's difficult for us to rewrite all of our content, we understand your concerns in the current circumstances and we have written several articles dedicated to the Coronavirus pandemic which can be found in the Guides, Covid -19 section of Pregnancy+. We can only imagine how difficult it is to be so restricted during such a time of joy. In the Covid-19 section you will find articles that intended to support you in keeping busy, meditating and looking after your mental health and more.

With regards to the NHS content being "sponsored", these articles are written by the NHS but we offer this as a free space for the NHS to share their content. It enables the NHS to reach our audience of expectant families. We gave 2 million impressions away to the NHS for free, in order to support them. However, the software does not allow us to change the header saying ‘sponsored’. We'll have a think about how we might be able to make that clearer.

We work really hard to achieve full inclusivity as this is important to our values. For example, we have a dedicated text to support single parents when they indicate that they are a single parent in the settings. We have a number of different ethnicity 3D baby models to choose from. We did have an LGBT section in the Guides to support all families, but we have had to temporarily remove it due to a technical issue. We hope to have the LGBT section available again very soon. We're always looking to improve so if you find any wording that stands out as needing to be re-written, we'll always be glad to receive your feedback. You can email us with this feedback using the "Contact us" feature which is found in the profile of the Today page.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a well thought out of review. Feedback like this really helps us to strive for making the best possible Pregnancy app.
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

Really useful pregnancy app

I’ve been using the free version of this app throughout my pregnancy so far and have found it really useful. There are loads of different features available, seeing scans and information about baby’s progress each week has been great and most of the articles are interesting/informative. It’s not a one stop shop and yes you should get antenatal info elsewhere but it’s great to go alongside that.

I recently purchased the paid for version so I could use the kick counter, however have found this a bit disappointing. It goes off the old way of measuring foetal movements which is whether they kick ten times in a two hour period and it encourages you to do things to make baby move if they don’t. It’s actually now advised to get to know your own baby’s pattern of movement as they are all different and if this is reduced to call a midwife as soon as possible.

I’m still using the counter throughout the day to track baby’s movement but it’s not really designed to be used in this way as well as it could be and could be better with maybe some charts or something to display their activity?,” I haven’t found any other apps out there that seem to do this well so I’ll stick with this. Hopefully the contraction counter will be handy when the time comes too!

Thank you for your thoughtful review. We'll share your feedback about the kick counter with our development team. Thanks to feedback from customers like you we can continue to improve the App.
