Good but very frustratring
First, the artwork is really good, with the same goofy humour as other Rayman games. Performance wise, runs super smooth.
The problem is the level design. I hate when a game requires you to memorise levels in order to finish them. The difficulty in the levels arises from unexpected traps, ones that there is no way you can react to the first time. For instance, in some platform you are required to jump straight away, in other you have to put a slight delay, and the only way to know it is fall the the first time. And then you'll fall at every other single of these traps. May be fun to some, to me is just annoying.
Cheap ads and in-app purchases galore
The most recent update ruins the experience of this game. I would even go as far as saying it's brand damaging.
There are cheap popups harassing you to pay to unlock the levels you unlock through regular play, as well ones to unlock costumes, buy the next Rayman game and very cheap plugs for other Ubisoft games. These also take up permanent residence flashing on the level select screen and main menu.
Shady tactics like this may seem like easy money but all it truly does is damage the experience of what otherwise is a good game, prevent future purchases, and damage the credibility of the Rayman series which otherwise is stronger than ever right now. I definitely won't be buying any more Ubisoft mobile games. Rayman is better than this.
This is probably the best platform style game I've played on iOS, edging out Mr Crab for enjoyment. Sure it gets tough towards the end, but there's a huge sense of achievement to be had from collecting everything and beating the timed runs. It's true that memorisation is a big part of this style of game, but the levels are pretty short so it's hardly taxing to remember the correct routes.
