Description

Retro Gamer is the only magazine in the UK that’s fully dedicated to the halcyon days of classic gaming. If you’ve ever fondly blasted away at the Bydo Empire in R-Type, swung Bowser by the tail in Super Mario 64, or navigated all 20 levels of Matthew Smith’s Manic Miner, then this is the magazine for you. Created by a dedicated team of experts, Retro Gamer’s mission is to deliver constantly engaging and passionately written articles that cover a wide range of subjects.

We offer our readership in-depth looks at classic games and franchises, behind-the-scenes glimpses of the software houses from yesteryear, and one-on-one exclusive interviews with industry veterans such as Archer Maclean and Hideo Kojima. Stylish, entertaining and beautifully presented, Retro Gamer is the ultimate guide to video gaming’s rich and diverse history.

What you’ll find in every issue:
• Unique – Interviews and features with unique access other publications cannot rival
• History – Delving into the history of the biggest games ever made with the unique ‘making of’ section
• Community – Creating a community where readers are given a chance to have their say on some of the best games in the world
• Extensive – Covering all aspects of the retro gaming world, from the Atari 2600 right up to the PlayStation 2

Best games do not necessarily have the best graphics

Brilliant look back at an era of gaming which defined my generation. Still the best in a lot of ways. Graphics and “power” were always beaten my gameplay.

Does Not Work

So what is the point of a magazine app that won’t let you download a magazine?

When you start this up it offers you a free trial - you can choose a month, quarter or yearly sub to access the magazine, whatever you tap elicits the same “cannot connect to the App Store” message - totally useless!

I want to read the magazine! I want to subscribe! But you won’t let me - very annoying...

10 PRINT 'decent' 20 GOTO 10

Kingmonkey25

I usually buy the print version of this magazine for train journeys or if there is something featured that interests me. Being the 100th issue I thought I'd get a digital copy as I wouldn't keep a print version after I've read it once.

The issue itself is great with interesting features and I'm still getting through it and for £2.99 I'm happy with it (printed is £4.99). My only gripe is that it isn't designed for iPad so the print can look a bit pixelated (I'm on iPad 3) but this fact is mentioned before you purchase so you take your choice there!

Overall i would say that if you're a retro video games fan you won't be disappointed with the content & reading is just a matter of zooming and rotating to suit your preference.
