Rip Off .... Please check charges before use!
The app it's self is pretty good. However, I occasionally go to the cinema on a Sunday and the car park I use after 4pm there's a night charge of a £1 (when you purchase a ticket). First of all I was going to use the app but it was going to charge me £3.40!!! Since then I've checked and the app can charge anywhere between 40-90p EXTRA during the day depending on number of hours etc. So if I were to use this app all the time my parking would cost me a extra £110 per year on top of the normal fee!!
The app shouldn't cost anymore than the normal parking fee. I know there's a design and development cost for the app but in the long run it will save the council money and the app would pay for it's self. But no they rip us off as always!! I'll stick to buying a ticket from the machine thanks.
Why isn't everyone using it?
I suppose some people are nervous about using an app to pay instead of having a sticker in the window? Honestly this works I've been using it for a while and though there is a small charge if you don't have change it is a lifesaver! Well in parking terms it is a big help at least. I'm 100% happy. 'Find nearest area' is a v handy feature too, especially if it's raining and you don't feel like getting out of the car just to locate the number on a pay box.
I like this app but some things about it are irritating: you can't switch off the 0.10p text message notification in the app but you can online with your computer; it's not massively widespread around greater London area; there are three different things you can use for your login 'password', allegedly, but they don't always work and then you get locked out.
Things that are good about it are: you can buy extra time even if you are miles away and don't have to rush back to your car; you can buy parking for visitors easily and the best thing is, obviously you don't need cash to hand.
