Road Angel Halo 4+

Having recently purchased the Halo Ultra 4k… what’s in the box? Well - no trim tool in mine! The hardware appears to be good quality and is a straight forward fit. This however is where the good news ends. The App - well that’s a whole other ball game! Is this really the right App? Is this the best you can do? For a start - conflicts with Audi MMI and Apple car play - neither of which is us usable if you hook up to the Halo WiFi. You can’t use App in dark mode - can’t see text. Very limited functionality - no way to turn off tracking - no way to format internal storage, no way to turn off other functions that you don’t want, unless you simply mute it to 0 volume. App is also very glitchy during initial set up - it’s very much a case of fingers crossed, hope and or try again. This is advertised as an “updated” App - it needs a lot more work / updating. Personally I don’t think it’s fit for purpose. I will be returning my recent purchase - I do not need or want the hassle - I just want a dash cam that works and integrates seemlessly into my existing set up. Tip: Having owned and used many a dash cam - this has the potential to be the best yet. BUT and note , it’s a big BUT - The App (software) needs to match the Hardware - or the reviews will result in curtains coming down on both.

A dashcam should be fit and forget and hopefully if you need it, it will provide you some footage. Not a chance with this. There is no way to protect footage so if you are driving along and there is an incident that doesn’t cause the g-sensor to trigger then it won’t protect the file. The app is garbage. I have a 64gb micro Sd fitted but for some reason can only see the last 10 minutes of footage. Support are practically useless, ask loads of questions about serial number, version, where bought, when, time, how much paid, name of cashier, what was the weather doing? Just a load of pointless questions to avoid helping you. The app is the most counter-intuitive software I have ever seen. I thought it was my iPhone 12 so when I upgraded to iPhone 14 and still have the same results I realise this is definitely a rubbish app. There is also a new firmware version on their website but no release notes and it doesn’t update to my dashcam. To see all these negative reviews for their app and make no improvements over the years must be an absolute embarrassment for the company.

I can not fault the camera itself “the halo go”, for the price point it’s really good and I was actually looking forward to installing it and having it running… then I downloaded the app, set up wasn’t too painful but when it comes too seeing text you need to turn the brightness to full and melt your retinas to navigate the settings menu, the date states that my most recent recordings are from the 1st of January 1970 which isn’t very helpful and there’s no clear way of me being able to change it. As for viewing the recordings I have spent about 2 hours trying to just watch anything but nothing will load other than pictures but already the quality on them looks decent. The app needs a tonne of work doing to it before it becomes a good product as a whole but for now I’ve purchased a micro sd card reader to recover the recordings. If that don’t work I will be volleying it back thew halfords front door with the receipt attached
