What happens long term
Love the system. However, a big thought now. Recent app updates rendered my heating system inoperable for a a few days. As it’s all cloud based what happens if Rointe stop supporting it, go bust etc...This is an issue with all systems like this but the recent issues have led me to question this. As a heating system needs to last 10 years will it still be supported. This could be sorted by having some sort of system that can be run on the home network and not reliant on third parties for years to come. Brilliant system but I now have reservations about its long term support following a large outlay of money. Would I have invested if I fully understood the implications. Not sure.
More on the recent updates. The radiators are very unresponsive and I can try and turn them up or down and nothing happens. Annoyed to say the least now. Basically think serious is you want to invest in smart heaters as these updates have rendered my heating system unusable. What do Rointe do. Nothing. Promised phone calls don’t materialise. Not happy
Ambient zone temperature missing from 2.0.1 update
I have 5 Delta rads & a towel rad having been installed since October 2018. The system works very well for me having downsized from a 3 bed semi British Gas Hive wet system installed. To where I am in 2 bed flat sigh no gas supply.
Since the update last week, the ambient room temperature is not shown on the app in each zone!
This was a very useful feature, knowing what the zone temps are when viewing remotely.
Can this feature be available on the next update please?
Do any of the developers own this product?
Terribly designed app makes it a real chore to do anything. Everything is hidden in obscure locations and behind so many taps to access anything. It’s slow and laggy to load basic information.
Fundamental features such as “boost the temperature for 30 mins” do not exist.
Accessing the “two hours function” for towel rails is buried behind so many menus it’s not worth the time.
Changing the temperature on the panel control of the heaters overrides the programming from the app. The only way to revert to the programmed temperature is to menu dive in to change to a different programmed temperature, then change again back to the desired temperature to realign everything.
There is no functionality to connect with anything else (Home kit, IFTTT, etc)
The heaters are fine, although not terribly cost efficient. If you are expecting a “Smart” function from this app you will be disappointed.
