You must connect your phone or tablet to the same wireless network as your Roku device to use certain features of the mobile app. Some features require a compatible Roku device and may require logging into your Roku account.


Feature availability:
• Voice search is available in English in the US, UK, and Canada. It’s also available in Spanish in Mexico and the US.
• The Roku Channel can be viewed in the mobile app in the US only.
• Some channels require payment, can change, and vary by country.

Free, easy and VERY useful!

No need to sign in to your Roku account unless you want to save favourites etc. Finds your devices and works immediately.

The private listening option is amazing. Just tap the headphone icon on the remote tab and it mutes the TV and starts playing on your phone. I mostly listen from my phone's speaker, but plugging in or wirelessly linking headphones also works brilliantly. This feature makes it so easy to watch TV when everyone else is asleep. Tap the icon again to unmute the TV and stop listening on your phone.

Tap on channel/app thumbnails to go straight to them. Very convenient.

It's a great remote app. Does everything you need.

My only request for future updates would be the option to listen on your phone AND the TV at the same time. It would help people who can't hear very well and also those living with family who constantly talk loudly over everything!

Great app broken

With the latest 2 upgrades if you should go off screen and do anything else, the app freezes. For instance, my security camera gave me a notification and when I come back to the app it does not Respond. Forcing a quit and relaunch of the app, then it works again. Rinse and repeat. Therefore making this app redundant. It does however have other excellent features features such as the search function and typing or speech recognition. Mirroring. But, its failure in its basic functionality makes it a deal breaker. It use to be a good solution. I have a projector and so in a darkened room the included remote with Roku is not adequate. This app no longer works, without frustration, so I will go back to 15yr old, back lit Phillips Pronto remote. Sometimes new technology can be more of a hindrance than a benefit.

UPDATE: 10.0.2. Has fixed the above app freeze. I’m well happy the issue has been resolved.

Worst app ever

This app has stopped working suddenly it tells me Roku is not connected when it is connected and has excellent connection also says no roku device can be found when I type the IP address it tells me there is no device on this network when there is and tells me I need to enable permissions which have already been enabled and even when I turn the permissions on and back off it still won’t detect device even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app still not working this app is beyond belief you would think after years of this problem Roku would have sorted it by now but no it’s a case of we have your money so stuff you we won’t bother fixing issues with our own app which means you can’t use your phone to control the device like we promise or use private listening never mind the fact this constitutes false advertising Roku have known about this issue for years now and still not sorted it customer service and care non existent with this company.

Select either a 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz connection for both devices. Once complete, be sure to restart each device.
