Description

Modified app by removing banner for Rotary Business Directory.

Find a club meeting wherever you are with the Rotary Club Locator app. Search by city, state, country and meeting day or by distance from your location. Features include:
• A list of clubs in the area
• Club meeting location, day, and time
• Save details of your favorite clubs
• Map of the selected meeting location
• Driving directions to the meeting
• Club president and secretary contact details and ability save to Contacts (MAP registration required)
• Ability to add meeting event to Calendar app
• Donate via SMS to End Polio

[Note: Rotary Club Locator app can only locate clubs that have submitted the street address of their meeting place to Rotary International via Member Access.]

Invaluable, but could be improved.

This is a very useful app, despite one or two little quirks, though it must always be remembered that it can never be better than the data that it works with - and some clubs are not very good at ensuring their data is current!

That said - and it is not intended as a criticism, only as a reality check! - there is one small but really annoying feature that in my opinion does need to be fixed. Email addresses (and to a lesser extent website URLs) are frequently too long to display within the width of a phone screen, meaning that they cannot be read. It would be very helpful if the app enabled landscape mode, or if there were some long-touch action that would display the complete address or URL so that it might either be read off or copied to the clipboard.

Good effort and will no doubt improve with use and feedback.

Rotary International should be applauded for having a go at the App world and a club locator is a great place to start.
Obviously some minor issues to be addressed - probably down to the quality of the data being held at RI e.g. I'm in Glasgow, Scotland and was offered a club in New Zealand as being within 10 miles!
As long at there is an ongoing refinement and improvement, this will be very useful for Rotarians who do a bit of travelling especially as the summer holidays approach. Well done Rotary International.
