How to Register

The RBS Mobile Banking app is available to RBS Personal and Business customers with Digital Banking, who are over 11 and have a UK mobile number starting with 07.

Once you’ve downloaded the app registering is simple, all you need to hand is your Digital Banking customer number, PIN and password to get access straight away.

Not registered for Digital Banking or forgotten your customer number? Get a reminder or sign up at


- Login using Touch ID if you have a compatible phone

- Get Cash from your account at any RBS, NatWest or Tesco cash machine using your app when you do not have your debit card

- Pay bills & Pay Your Contacts

- Transfer money between your RBS accounts

- Check your balance and your statement

- View Direct Debits and standing orders that you have set up

- Use Near Me to find your nearest cash machine or local branch

- Check your Rewards balance if you have registered as a Rewards customer.

Other things you need to know

Get Cash lets you take out up to £130 per day from our UK cash machines, when you have at least £10 available in your account. There is a maximum limit of two Get Cash withdrawals every 24 hours.

Pay Your Contacts allows you to pay anyone up to £250 who has this app or is registered for Paym using their UK mobile number. To use Pay Your Contacts customers must be over 16 and have available funds in their account, limits are independent of daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

Useful app

App is very easy to use and very glad it has Touch ID sign in. Only issues I have is how annoying it is to pay someone new- brilliant if they are already a set up payee, otherwise it is a very roundabout process that is unnecessary. Other banking apps make it much easier to pay new people. Also it's not great that once you have a payee set up you can't update the reference with each payment, you are stuck with the same reference?? Doesn't make sense. Apart from that it's great for keeping track of finances.

It's ok

It really is time to drop the absolute nonsense of requiring the card reader to add new payees which destroys the concept of mobile banking! Also when paying someone allow the reference to be updated! These 2 simple changes would make using the app so much easier.

Other than that the app works fairly well, would be nice if you got notified immediately when your card is used to buy something (see Monzo bank) and transactions didn't take 3 days to show up but that's big banks for you.

Big Stupid Bank

I used the RBS Business app for years without issue as it allows you to have multiple unlinked accounts logged on to the app. RBS are forcing closure on the Business app and providing only this Personal app, which only permits linked accounts to be logged. All this despite RBS not allowing more than one Business account to be linked... just one Business account linked to several personal accounts.
Yet another example of a Big Stupid Bank shutting down services despite having no comparable replacement to offer.
I'll be off to look at other banks offerings now...
