How to Register

The Royal Bank of Scotland Mobile Banking app is available to Royal Bank of Scotland Personal and Business customers with Online Banking, who are over 11 and have a UK mobile number starting with 07.

Once you’ve downloaded the app registering is simple, all you need to hand is your Digital Banking customer number, PIN and password to get access straight away.

Login using Touch ID if you have a compatible iPhone or iPad

Check your balances and transactions or transfer money between your Royal Bank of Scotland accounts

Manage Direct Debits and standing orders

Transfer up to £250 to any UK account using a sort code and account number

Make bill payments by searching for approved utility and service providers when entering a payee name

Get Cash at any Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest or Tesco cash machine using your app when you do not have your debit card

As a Personal Customer you can Pay Your Contacts who use the app or any mobile number which is registered for the Paym service

Use your Apple Watch to view the balance and recent transactions of your main account and Get Cash when you do not have your debit card

Apply for an overdraft or savings account by visiting the Products tab

If you have registered for MyRewards ( you can check your pending and available Rewards balance.

Use Near Me to find your nearest cash machine or local branch.

Edit the names of your accounts to personalise your banking experience.

View your Customer Number – this is the number we use to identify you when you log in to Digital Banking and for authentication when you call us.

Use 3D Touch to access features from your home screen on compatible phones.

Other things you need to know

Get Cash lets you take out up to £130 per day from our UK cash machines, when you have at least £10 available in your account. There is a maximum limit of two Get Cash withdrawals every 24 hours.

Pay Your Contacts allows you to pay anyone up to £250 who has this app or is registered for Paym using their UK mobile number. To use Pay Your Contacts customers must be over 16 and have available funds in their account, limits are independent of daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

While we’ve been away we have made a number of improvements to the iPhone and iPad apps

•Search from a list of approved beneficiaries to pay for bills and utilities
•The iPhone app is now RNIB Approved for blind and partially sighted customers
•Manage your regular payments, view, cancel, or set up Standing Orders and Direct Debits
•Use your app across all your devices using the same details (this will be available within the next few days!)

It's ok, easy to use and yes you can do everything however it seems to be more complicated than other banks. I used to be with Barclays and their app is way easier to use also my fiancée has online banking with Lloyds, Santander and Halifax and she goes on about how better their apps and banks are. On this app sometimes it takes way too long to see where your money has gone i.e direct debits or companies that swipe your card for different reasons. Really as whoever takes your money from your account you should be able to see who charged it straight away in order to be in full control of your finances and that's a fact with the other banks mentioned, they do it on their app and you know straight away who has taken a payment rather than be guessing who charged you for days. And as I read on other reviews when you call it takes ages to get through and it's true, sometimes you have to wait and ages as first you call RBS then after you put all the details they tell you to call a different number for Gwylliam & hill or whatever it's called and it just takes ages. A messaging system is needed.
Also if you don't have your chip reader you are screwed and I can't believe the app doesn't have an online pin reader as Barclays do... come on RBS you know you can do so much better ! However the only thing I cannot fault is the lovely staff in the Brighton branch! Xx

Excellent App with a simple thing missing!

I do like the app, but RBS is one of the only bank who still has not got a messaging service on their app or online banking! Strange!
I have mentioned this several times to them but it seems, they're not doing anything about it, since it's so so difficult to contact RBS on the phone if you have any problems. Each time calling them on the phone being passed from one person to another if you're lucky to talk to someone that is, and waiting for a human being to talk to you to resolve the problem usually takes well over 40 minutes and by that time, you put the phone down anyway.
For goodness sakes, create a messaging services on your RBS online accounts and App and reply customers and resolve their problems. Not a difficult thing to do.

Great App That Makes My Life Easier!

Whilst some may only leave feedback and reviews if they have something to main about, we get hiccups now and again but though I may not be a fan of the banks, this clever App is simple to use and that alone makes it great - it's so handy to be able to check balances but also when my kids need funds or I happen to have forgotten my wallet I can still 'Get Cash' using my phone and this App!
Still room for improvements like being fully useful rather than using the laptop to set up Payees from my phone etc but it's definitely getting there!
