The best calculator in the App Store

Yes, you read this correctly. As a programmer and software diagnostician I had been searching for a calculator that could do the work needed with software writing as well as other, more mundane calculations and some more difficult scientific stuff. There are many that can do parts, but this is the only one I have found that can do the lot. The UI is one of the best I have seen and the execution is perfect. If I have one improvement to ask, it would be to have the three modes switchable out of settings, but it is such a trivial request I almost feel ashamed to ask!

Pretty Good

Yes it’s good, depending on what you want. And to be fair it’s free so it’s being a bit picky to complain about missing features, however...

I do a lot of industrial systems programming and have used 1 particular calculator for years but since the demise of 32-bit OS support with iOS11 it no longer works. Now I am trying to find a replacement, had one that came close but now that no longer works and has been removed from the App Store and I have now moved on to this. For a calculator it’s fine, it does what it says and does it well. I thought the slide down feature to see the calc history was very innovative.

For a programmer a couple of features I would like to see would be simultaneous display of decimal, hexadecimal and binary values on the screen, and possibly octal but that’s not so important, one under the other. Switching between bases could be done by clicking the relevant base field instead of having buttons. Please do not lose the ascii display section as that is always really useful when programming string functions. The ability to limit the functions to 8,16,32 or 64 bits is really important and also the ability to switch between signed and unsigned values.

If these were implemented I would happily pay for the app as I believe people should be rewarded for their time if they provide something useful.

The best calculator in the App Store +1

I agree with Landshark2007's review, I got this app when I was at uni after trying loads of other Calc offerings in the App Store, this was the last one I downloaded, it works, no ads, no fuss. Beautiful design, simple and intuitive to use yet powerful and full featured, try it first, try it last, unless you have very specific scientific requirements, this is probably the best Calc on the App Store and it's free! Thanks Jerry!!!
