Scottish Midge Forecast (UK)

This App offers you a daily and 7 day Midge Forecast for Scotland. Based on Google Maps you can use it to tell you where midges are at their worst. It rates over 50 locations in Scotland on a scale of 1 to 5 depending on the number of biting insects there are. With level 5 being the most annoying.
You can also contribute to the Midge Map and help fellow adventurers by Tweeting back midge readings. The App uses geolocation to locate your exact position and lists your reading. You can choose to view the map with only the official data, or with additional tweets from the Smidge Forecast community.
• Gives you midge readings for over 50 locations across Scotland daily
• Plus an additional 7 day forecast
• Allows you to add your own readings via Twitter

Added Smidge stockist locations and minor bug fixes.
As good as it can be
Based upon REPORTED numbers of midges, using a simple sliding scale this app takes the received data and interprets the levels of midges accordingly. If no one reports the midges then there is no way to know, therefore it is important to send the data when ever midges are encountered.
I laugh at the negative comments because they are ridiculous! This app does work and does provide the information one wants when heading to a midge infested area. I'd rather have a heads up and know if there are going to be very high numbers than have the midges spoil an otherwise great day out. I can bare a certain number of the pesky critters bothering me but high levels can be very distressing!
Well done Smidge!!
Not much use
Basically, having two midge-scored locations in East Central Scotland is utterly useless. One location is the Firth of Forth and the other is the Edinburgh port of Leith.
Let's think about this, the Firth of Forth is actually the sea and the port of Leith is, ehm... a port on the seaside. Midges don't live on the sea ormin towns, they live inland in damp places, like woodland and farmland.
Bet I can do just as well.
Here's the midge forecast for the Dogger Bank and Scapa Flow Zero. Bet i's bang on:
The midge forecast for the Lang Whang, the A70 between Edinburgh and Lanark: bloody infested.
I'm gonna launch my own Midge Forecast and it'll be an effing site more accurate. Here it is for the whole summer:
Sailing on the sea: no midges.
In the city: no midges.
Anywhere else in Scotland: INFESTED.
Winter forecast: No Midges.
Unfortunately I have the same problem, just my location shows up on the map. I wanted info on where to go camping that might avoid the worst areas but no info to be seen. There is an option to upload your report to twitter but I don't have that! I will just have to go to the Smidge website as usual, but its a shame they can't just put the info from that straight into the app as I expected.
