SeaNav works in high-resolution on your iPad, iPhone and iPod.
SeaNav uses the latest Digital Vector charts providing a wealth of benefits and advantages over traditional raster charts. Buoys, Lights, Bridges, Depth Contours, Depth Soundings, Rocks, Anchorage areas, NOAA Weather Buoys etc. are all selectable and have real time distance, bearing and detail information. Tides, moon and sun times and weather are also all available at your fingertips.
Our unique AR view mode allows you to view buoys, lights, ships, waypoints and track overlaid on your iPhone or iPad live camera view. With "AR LockOn" you can select a target on the chart and then be guided to it in the AR camera view.
In-app tools let you measure distances and bearings and record waypoints on routes to sail. When you are out at sea, the app’s Sailing HUD shows your position on the route, Course over ground (COG), Speed over ground (SOG), Vector Made Good (VMG), Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), Distance and bearing to next Waypoint. Waypoint reached alerts, auto-routing to the next waypoint and flashing collision alerts (with Boat Beacon).
External NMEA support for AIS and Wind
iPhone or iPad. GPS only required for real time route navigation. Optional Real time AIS, Tides and Weather information require an active internet connection.
Real-time route navigation requires a GPS location. iPhone devices and iPads with a cellular modem already have a built-in GPS, even if they do not have an active service plan.
If you have a WiFi-only iPad or iPod you will need an external GPS receiver to enable navigation. Inexpensive 3rd Party units are available to add these accurate location capabilities to your device via bluetooth.
Your purchase of SeaNav includes 12 months free updates to the included UK chart set. At the end of the 12 month period continued access to ongoing chart updates is available via an in-app purchase. Charts for other regions may also be added to your product via optional in-app purchase.
Our in-app purchases are 1 year subscriptions, which automatically renew at the end of the subscription period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase, and will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Pricing for our 1 year UK Charts update subscription is £9.99.
Subscriptions may be managed by the iTunes account holder and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to Account Settings after purchase. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period.
Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Ratings and Reviews
Used on every sail - Keeps getting better
This app is great. Buy it! Actually I recommend buying the marine bundle which includes Seanav, Boat Beacon & CompassEye.
This app was great 3 years ago when I first started using it and is even better now. I use it when I crew on a racing yacht - just open and click on the go sailing icon. The track and every tack taken are all recorded for later review. I also use it to plan routes for cruising and for navigation while cruising.
It is very robust and stable with my iphone7 and Apple Watch (It is amazing how much useful information is clearly displayed on such a small screen). I find the 2nd (waypoint) screen on the watch the most useful. For e.g just recently I was on a long 30nm tack. I set the auto tiller to the next waypoint bearing (BWP) shown on the watch. With the occasional tilt of the wrist I could check VMG and XTE, and tweak the bearing on the autotiller to get the XTE back to 0nm. My track followed my planned route almost exactly. Very efficient!
Pocket mariner are very innovative and responsive to feedback. Their apps integrate really well with each other and are iOS family shareable. I (we) now have all their apps!
Sadly, not impressed.
I had high expectations for this app. At a tenner its a much better proposition than Navionics is, especially given that this works on both the iPad and the iPhone without having to purchase a 'HD' version. Sadly though it seems you get what you pay for and I went ahead an bought the Navionics app after giving this a try anyway.
The main problem I have is that the level of detail in the charts is lacking and not always drawn correctly. For example, at a certain zoom level, the depth vectors around Scarborough harbour are drawn right over the top of the harbour, obscuring it entirely; not great if that's your destination. Zoom in to see the detail inside the harbour, and there's nothing much to see either, whereas with Navionics you see a detailed layout of the harbour right down to the positions of its pontoons. The same levels of detail apply equally at sea, with Navionics showing far more information. I don't know whether the problems with vector rendering hides any detail at sea, but if it does, I suspect this could prove dangerous if someone were to use this app as a chart plotter.
If there were a refund option, I'd use it as this app has proved to be a waste of money for me.
As a small boat user, I find this app essential. It has all the detail and features I need, plus the entire UK&ROI interactive charts included in the price. Don't let the Navionics fans put you off, unless you really enjoy spending mucho money on Navionics charts and add-ons, that is. As for detail, this app shows not only the marina I berth at, but the very finger berth I tie up to(!) If you were to hold a gun to my head, and insist that I find fault, I would only say this.... there is no 'night mode' to the display, and in order to dim the screen when night cruising you must quit the app and go to the iPad settings. No biggie, really. Other than that, I am super-impressed. Who even BUYS a chart plotter these days? Hundreds of quid on a one-trick pony, when this app running on your iPad allows you to check your email, fill in your log, and write an app review, all in one place.....AND navigate your way.
