What's New in Version 5.1
Optimised for iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus
Just keeps crashing
I've been using the app for a few years now and on the whole it's a very good app. A favourites section would be very welcome as well as auto download for your favourite shows (when connected to Wifi). As you're limited to 4 devices on the monthly paid for subscription if you have 5 or
more in the household someone gets the short straw sadly.
This latest version just doesn't look like it's been UAT'd as well as the previous versions. The app keeps crashing when you try and use the downloads sections and despite closing the app repeatedly, the only way to correct this is a full reboot of the phone.
Additionally I've been having problems when you've started watching a problem for instance and then close it and come back to it when you're out of a mobile reception area - eg the underground - just keeps doing it's crashing thing again.
Hopefully those super clever Dev guys will get the bugs fixed, regression tested and available for release in two shakes of a lambs tail.
Would be lovely to have sky+ style functionality which automatically downloads the latest episodes over wifi when they become available and automatically pick up new series of your favourite shows.
Inconsistent offline usage
When this app works it's excellent, when it doesn't is very frustrating. I travel a lot and download series/ films. Sometimes I can watch things, sometimes I can't due to an abundance of error messages. Not very helpful on a 13hour flight. The most irritating element is that I can be watching something in offline mode. Have to stop part way through, then when I try to continue the error message lottery start again, even though nothing has changed and it's been in offline mode the whole time. For the amount Sky customers pay for their bundles and packages this is unacceptable and has been an ongoing issue for too long.
It is just basically the Number 1 App I use..
I travel a huge amount so downloading movies and box sets is ideal. I don't recognise these errors other people are talking about, apart from occasionally having to restart the app to reenable an offline programme.
My biggest issue is the two day window after having started a viewing. Sometimes I simply don't have the time to finish viewing a movie when I'm away in business, and once it's gone, I can't download it again.
Nonetheless, a five star app!
