What's New in Version 2.8.2
Tried to watch a video clip of a story about the first anniversary of the death of a British aid worker who was beheaded in Syria by IS when he was there helping refugees from the crisis. The video starts playing with music and a picture of him with his wife and young child then seconds later is interrupted by a loud advert for some bloody show starring 'The Rock' that you can't skip?!!?!!!
What the hell is going on here? Is there nobody at Sky who thinks that's even a wee bit insensitive or does it just not matter so long as you're getting the revenue from the ad? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that.
The 99%+ reviewers of this app have made it clear they don't want these ad's forced on them and interrupting items like the one I described above is just totally inexscusable. I doubt even the Daily Star would be so ignorant or greedy to do so. Could you please make an honest change to this app and get rid of these ad's? I say honest as don't forget, when you first added the Outbrain crap that appears at the bottom of every single story you're update stated that it was 'related content', which was a simple lie as it clearly is not. It's just bulls**t click-bait spam
Why the ads?
Ive had this app for a few years now and it has been ruined by adverts and pop ups. Its annoyed me so much this evening that I've put on hold what I was doing so that I can do this review!
I cant stand adverts, which was one reason I originally got sky +, and it is especially frustrating when the adverts are just more Sky propaganda. If I wanted to watch adverts rather than find out news I would use You Tube. Another annoying part is the lure that Sky News uses to get you to click on a story. The headlines can be misleading (granted it is mainstream media and that should be expected) and when you want to see a picture it often changes from the one on the main screen.
Because of the above I will tend to use social media such as Twitter to find out more info about breaking news. On another point, the spelling and grammar leaves much to be desired. I do feel like I'm proof reading teenagers writing rather than an investigative reporters piece. I've given it one star because I like how breaking news is pushed to you but there should be an option to choose the stories you feel are relevant to what you care about.
Sky News now in the skies!
The fact that Sky News viewers are not being listened to, says a lot about Sky. The Sky News app has gone bad. Developers, wake up, if your adverts are annoying people, they're certainly not going to purchase anything from watching them. You need to fix the app. The advert repeats itself and plays in the background after the news video has finished, to even kicking you out of the app altogether. I used to like this app and use to look forward to getting my daily news updates. Oh and taking off the videos on older operating systems is 'Bull'.... Got absolutely nothing to do with a software update. Have you not heard of different versions. In the end, I stopped looking at the videos because of the stupid adverts anyway. How are you going to make money when people are not looking at the videos anymore to even deleting their app's altogether. I go the page on my iPhone to where my Sky News app once was and all I see is an empty space. I only put the app back on my phone in order to write this very poor review!
