Solipskier is a fast paced skiing game where you draw the slopes to pick up speed and do jumps. Paint your own cliffs, do tricks and slalom through gates to get huge scores!
Supports iOS4 Retina Display and iPad resolutions.
What's New in Version 1.2
First of all, we've added an option in the settings of your iDevice to turn on (defaults to off) "Sticky Headphones." Which will allow you to continue listening to music no matter how fast you go.
Also in the settings menu, you can throttle the Sound and Music volume to whatever you like to facilitate listening to your own music while you ski.
We've fixed some bugs having to do with different situations in iOS4. Some of you were experiencing freezing after exiting the app via double-tap and so on, and we've managed to fix those cases.
Finally, we've added Facebook/Twitter support (via OpenFeint)in the end-game menu screen.
When I first came across this game it was the online flash version which I fell in love with and I played it almost constantly. Then yesterday I found the Solipskier app and thought "oh boy I'm gonna be addicted to this game for some time..." then I looked at the price (£1.79) and thought "meh, it's worth it to me." and now I've been playing this for a total of about 27 hours.
This has got to be one of my favourite games both on my iPod touch and on the internet... The graphics and sound effects are brilliant, the music is great and I seem to be getting higher scores on the app than on te flash beause I find it easier to make the slopes te way I want them on here. Such as today when I beat my high score of 100 million with a score of 204 million. This is a lot more than my score on the Internet version of only 29 million.
It would be nice if the sound would automatically mute itself if you are listening to your own music, and if you could have more detailed statistics after you die on, say, what percentage/how many of the yellow gates did you pass through and what percentage/how many of them did you pass over while in a jump, and what was your highest streak of gates you passed over... You know, that sort of stuff...
Anyway, great game and keep up the work! ;D
Addictive and fun
This game feels incredibly satisfying to play. It feels great when you pick up speed and it's so smooth and flowing. The graphics/style is amazing and the sound effects are brilliant, as is soundtrack. The controls are excellent and easy to pick up.
If you aren't sure whether you want to buy it, just play the online flash version first to see if you like it.
Edit: bug was fixed. I emailed the developers with the problem and they instantly responded and got to work on fixing the bug. The 1.2 update has fixed it.
I'd like to suggest a more detailed statistics section be added as it would be interesting to see how many gates you hit as a percentage and other such things.
The game could do with a pause button as some games I've played have lasted over 15 minutes.
I would 100% recommend this game to anyone. It takes very little time to get used to how to play it, and once you do, it's unbelievably satisfying and fun.
Note: the user that said it needs openfeint - it does already have it.
Weird Name, Great Game
Initially put off by the name and description, as well as the screen shots - which do not convey the meaning of the game or the speed/fun of it, I am so glad I went ahead and got this - as someone else mentioned, casual and addictive gameplay at its best. Personally I can't stand 'openfeint' - and would like to see a straightforward Twitter submission option; one aspect that would improve gameplay would be mirror imaging the creation of the slope to the opposite side of the direction of travel - so, using your left thumb, just behind the skier, to develop the slope in front of him, to the right. The distance in front of him the slope appears could be a difficulty adjustment for example. This would make the gameplay better as it currently suffers from the 'argh my finger is in the way of seeing this coolness and where did that red gate come from???' Excellent App.
