General Bug Fixes and Optimization
Best served in 2D, and it is!!!
The prospect of the original Sonic series being continued is awesome. For me the transition to 3D just didn't workout for Sonic. This is a very cool game worthy of it's place amongst the originals. However there are just a few little things that feel a bit off.
When running a loop-da-loop the camera rotates with Sonic. This kills the speed effect somewhat and is a little disorienting.
Sonic feels a little slow to respond to the direction pad and a little slow getting moving. He seems to stroll casually for a bit before transitioning to a run. Again this kills the speed factor somewhat. This is exaggerated more by the "modern" tall, long-legged style Sonic character used in this game.
Is it worth buying? Hell yeah!
Sonic 4 Ep1 Review
Firstly, I am a huge fan of this series.
I found Sonic 4 episode 1 to be a very fun game in it's own way.
The only disappointment I had in it, was that it mostly reuses ideas from previous sonic games. Also the controls don't compare to those of older games.
For example: when rolling off a slope, Sonic uncurls, leaving himself open to attack. And momentum is all over the place.
I enjoyed some music, from Splash Hill Zone, Lost Labrynth Zone, and the music is fairly good for a sonic game.
As I said before, it's a good game in it's own way. Only it lacks it's purpose: being a sequel.
If you're a fan of the old sonic games, you probably won't be very impressed.
If you like fast paced platformers in general, you might get some fun out of it.
Best Sonic game since Sonic3!!
I played this on I-phone 4 and I didn't have a problem with the controls (remember this is a touch screen version after all) people who are whining on about controls shoul probably be downloading this via Xbox live instead.
But all that aside this is the Sonic game I've even waiting for since Sonic3/SonicNKnuckes games.
Great seeing sideways scrolling classic style sonic again with a slight 3d new school touch too it
This game comes second only too its sequel part Two as the Tails element add more depth and the game is generally more refined and better looking.. But I got this for £1.50 can't exactly Whinge can I!
Sega at its finest!! #NiceOne
